I am hesitant to change how my charts look. What difference does it make anyway? Easier to spot levels?

Easier to see what is happening..but if you prefer candles then use them..but if not helping make money then change to bars and see if any difference.. nothing ventured.. nothing gained :)

Ill give it a whirl for a couple of days. I usually have my candles zoomed out quite a bit anyway so it wont make much of a difference. OHLC here I come. Instead of pretty charts maybe ill have a pretty equity curve.

Actually _eug_ if I were you I would take MrScalper's advice, leave ES to the pros and trade something else.

When I started trading options back in 2013, I followed the books and others by trading SPY and SPX options: lots of volume and liquidity. Didn't do too well. Why? My counter-parties were all pros and they were much better traders than I.

Then I changed to trading thinly traded equity options. My outcomes were better. Why? No professionals there.

    Regards,

You are not the only one to mention using bar chart for trading. I am curious, what can I see on a bar that I cannot on a candlestick?

    Thanks.

I use Bar charts... for me the candle has too much info to digest. the bar is simpler

The information is the same but the bar chart is simpler in presentation so your mind can zero in the crucial details that could be easily masked by color density, box etc... It doesn't mean one can't use candle if that's what one has been trained to use it though. Less garbage, less load.

If I told you I would have to shoot you :)

One can trade many different ways..using many different methods and aids. Like everything else in life..some ways are much better than others..and some people can charge big money to others just because they have become aware of some better ways of doing things.

Trading is not as straight forward..as a better way is rendered ineffective as soon as it becomes known by the general public..hence you will never ever find the "real good stuff" published in any financial trading book..as it is worth way too much money to the few that are aware of it!

Some think I am joking..or pulling your leg..but a small few know only too well that I am very serious.

Bar charts make it easier to apply this "real good stuff"..why is this so..well.. let's just say that is the way it is..and if you are told by someone who knows..you don't ask silly questions like "why"..you just listen and learn :)
