Think and think for yourself. find what works for you ! KISS Study. put your time in like everybody else that is profitable. That's what i got from reading through. but still thinking about the obvious.
Yes, in fact I did trade SLB yesterday and price is now hitting a level at 86.5, which it may or may not penetrate, who can tell. Yesterday SLB only moved about half its usual range so maybe there will be a bigger range today. The price had previously bounced off a level at 79.6 and price had fallen below the 200SMA. The daily 200 SMA and 50 SMA are only used as part of an automated scan of the S&P500 to produce lists of potential stocks to trade. One criteria in the scan is that the daily range should not be too small in the recent past, additionaly I prefer stocks with an average daily range exceeding $1. When trading though no TA is used at all. A useful consequence from the last few days posts is that I've realised how to auto generate html files that show my scan results so that I can then quickly do a visual check for the best and eliminate the crap. SLB came up on my scan for strong stocks today.
yes JH, it is not the trading that is difficult but it is the trader. any person with a cool head who realizes that is all about playing the odds can make money trading. those who look for the "perfect setup" will more than likely never find it experience is far more important than study we have actually covered the obvious and until such time as it is obvious then there is still some understanding required. once the obvious is obvious, you will not even bother to ask what it is TO
The original post by NY referred to one obvious, which if I remember correctly, he was willing to confirm if anyone correctly stated it. Later though he talked of another obvious which he stated would not be disclosed. I think that caused some confusion as to which obvious was being discussed throughout the thread. It seems best to me if nothing is confirmed so that the thread may provide something to think about for anyone new who comes across it. Along the way others have chipped in with their own suggestions for what the obvious might be, many of which have been valid although not necessarily a solution to the original post. But how to get closer to the obvious which was not part of the original post?
