    Book answer: The name of each creature commences with the letter that come two letters in the alphabet after the last letter in the previous creature. Also the name of each creature contains one more letter than the previous creature.

    Interesting. I came up with "squirrel" in 1 min 19 secs.

    Each fur-covered animal following the first on the list had one more letter in its name than the previous one. Of the 8-lettered names among the choices, "squirrel" was the only one with fur.
