why is the media so left?

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Jayford, Sep 3, 2008.

  1. Has it occurred to you that the reason the US media seems "conservative" in comparison to the rest of the world, is that the rest of the world is farther down the liberal/socialist/communist path than the US is?

However the US media clearly has a liberal bias. And definitely not reporters of facts and truth.

  2. Jay...chill brotha....

Your last many posts appear to show you as one tightly wound mofo. Move away from the keyboard and hit a great beach along the SD coast. Or take the day off and come up to the trestles. You're anger is not healthy.

    Best.

  3. Everything's relative, I guess.

The only thing I ever wanted from the media was to blow the whistle affirmatively on a President that led the United States into a war unnecessarily or on false pretenses.

I had always thought of that as the ultimate transgression of a commandeer-in-chief.

  4. I love that. "Welcome to the Matrix"

Thats pretty much the end of the discussion ...see if anyone can escape their own solipcism.

  5. The intent of the media was to be a watchdog on those in power, as the early Americans understood the need to have a free an open press that could help to be a watchdog against abuse of power by governments and those in government.

The right wing bitches like little girls when they are in power, or trying to gain power and the press uncovers their abuse of power.

    Is that liberal?

It sure as hell ain't conservative.

Conservatives are keen on keeping power, status quo, and increasing the power of the presidency.

If anything, the press has been weak in its duty to inform the voters as to the levels of corruption in politics...on both sides of the aisle.

  6. No ....it's not kinda weird...it's very simple. After living amongst and around actors, producers, and directors as my neighbors for years and years.... the simple answer is that they are scared. They feel as though they must "side" with the "people," or otherwise they'll be ostracized.

Joe McCarthy's sweaty, paranoid, alcohol fueled accusations didn't help much either you know.

  7. "solipcism"

I never, ever had read or heard that word before.

And I thank you for that. Truly. I just looked it up and it is a very, very good word to drop at cocktail parties.

Just so you know, it's spelled 'solipsism,' but there is no way in hell I'll remember how to spell it after posting this.

  8. Media bias is the most destructive element of American life today. The seeds lie in academia.

Something profound hit me last night so I shared my brilliance with ET. :p

There is a thread titled Laura Bush said George has kept us safe. I suppose the OP felt the First Lady's remarks were ironic in some misguided way.

While reading through the usual litany of LoZZZer type shit I was hit by the following. As I posted:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fact is ignorant douchebags, formidable U.S. enemies Gaddafi, Ahmadinejad and Kim Jong-il have literally laid down their arms rather than wind up in Saddam's rat hole.

The infamous Axis of Evil threatened for extinction by Bush is three and out.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It got me thinking. After all is said and done the Bush administration got rid of Hamas backing Saddam, North Korean nukes, Gaddafi and- if we're to believe the latest reports-Iran halted their nuclear weapon program some time ago.

These achievements came at great cost. Over 5000 American lives and EOD a trillion depreciating dollars.

However if you were to have laid a line as to if the 'Axis of Evil" would be essentially eliminated from the lexicon of military threats, few would predict the human and financial cost to be so low. Bush actually delivered on his most ambitious "promise" of the 2000 campaign.

Where is the media? Granted news comes and goes but there's a decided lack of commentary in both print and aired media about these historic foreign policy achievements. Make the leftest LoZZZers who derided “Cowboy Diplomacy” eat horseshit.

On top of it what of the following: Joe Biden voted for the war in Iraq. Obama's sole canard has been his opposition to the war. Certainly his 18,000,000 was built upon the Democrat's pacifist wing. So who's view of the war is correct? Biden's or Obama's? If the war was worth waging than is not Obama's entire thesis of Presidential worth invalidated? Conversely if Iraq was the most colossal mistake since Napoleon goes to Russia-then why the fuck is Joe Biden on the ticket?

Would not a fair media think that a more revealing discussion than 'Sarah Had Two Headed Twins”.

  9. Well, why are you complaining about a leftist media?
    :p

Do you think you can change the way news organizations or journalists address issues, or their way of criticizing government, corporations and special interests? It's all part of how they fit in, and it seems many here agree.

... or was this thread just your way of moaning?
    :D

Exactly why they should not choose one side or the other. Simply report the news with as little bias as humanly possible. Do not withhold news for political gain. News reported with bias should be reported as opinion.
