One word: Irrational Good example: BA Is that DEFENSE SPENDING boosting their sales/margins or is it the airlines that are getting creamed again with higher operating costs ? How can it be the latter ?
Why is it necessary to know the underlying reason for a markets directional move? It is only necessary to read that direction and profit from the inside move of those extended moves. Each market and each contract month associated with the Future or Commodity for that market will move in one overall direction until it creates an oscillation earmarking the top or bottom of that market and then price will reverse. The same with stocks and funds. Once you figure that out, which hopefully you will, you will no longer find the need to look for fish swimming in the in the desert sand.
Yes, there is now an established tren for this earning's season that the blue chips will beat estimates. The question is how the market will react, but with all the short positions open you could assume bulls won't have to contribute too much to push the market higher.
Is your only function on this earth to look at a tape, react to it and attempt to generate cash? Thats sad. Why not learn the actual reasons why its moving up? Sometimes its nice to study things and know the reasons. Educate yourself. We dont come to elitetrader to find education, reasons and logic. We come here just to learn how to react to a tape and push a button. Thats how we generate money and fun. Whoops, there goes the candlestick, push the button, make dollars. I guess thats why they have sites like IBD where one can find answers to the world rather then a bunch of knee-jerk artists.
This from the guy who said that traders don't necessarily trade to make money but for the sheer joy and thrill of the numbers flashing. Good job digit fucker, you've outdone even yourself today. How are your RIMM, AAPL, MA, and BIDU shorts going?
That's my name for the turd because he loves watching digits flashing on the screen. I'm just working with what he gives me. Found this pic of michaelscott checking his trades in the morning:
"It is totally unnecessary to understand how the car works mechanically to drive it successfully". I used to be a juniors champ driving Sprints and Midgets when I was a kid but didn't know squat about tearing the engine apart and putting it back together again. I'm a successful trader and I understand why price movement occurs and why it does what it does. I understand that it moves methodically and melodically and prosper from that. Why complicate that? I'm all for education, I read and study many different things each day but there is a point of overkill and most traders find themselves in that rut. Analysis Paralysis!
