why is prostitution illegal in the United States?

  1. Suppose we correlate internet porn and rape of of women over age of 50, and check the results. How about internet porn and fathers and brothers who rape sisters and daughters and see if their is a decline.

  2. You're free to do your own research. You sound like you have a sick mind, though. [IMG]

Who cares. They can do it anyway now. And they do !!

    That's the point.

Drugs are illegal. Yet they're EVERYWHERE. Why?

  4. The US has the highest rate of internet useage in the world and the most traffic that goes to internet porn sites come from people in the US. The US also has one of the highest counts of rape in the world.

Pretty sad when these backward african countries where people live in mud huts and have no police, have less rapes than the most technologically advanced country in the world.

  5. Consider that there are two numbers ... actual rapes and prosecuted rapes with a conviction. (you could also niggle about legal definitions of the word.. sometimes consensual sex is considered rape)

In the US the two numbers are much closer than in Africa and elsewhere.

Article by Associate Press Dated 01-12-2011:

Police in Nashville, Tennessee are reviewing the classification of hundreds of sexual crime reports after a news investigation showed that the department was labeling a large percentage as "matter of record" that were not included in annual crime statistics.

According to the department's statistics, the number of rapes declined between 2004 and 2009 decreasing every year. But WTVF-TV in Nashville reported that the police department has been reviewing sex crime reports dating back to 2007.

The station reported that in 2009, more than 30 percent of all sex crimes calls in Nashville were classified as matter of record, which meant that they were not included in the crime statistics.

Police spokesman Don Aaron said in a statement that 55 cases in 2009 and 39 cases from 2007 have been changed to rapes.

I'd feel a lot better if it was your mom sucking dicks at the corner.... But that's beside the point.

Prostitution is already illegal. Yet it's done virtually zilch to eradicate Johns and whores from enjoying the others company.

You missed the point. People will do what they want. Government cannot regulate transient morality, to any degree. So why try?
