Why is IB's time 5 seconds behind the official time?

  1. Today is a good example of the importance of time clock syncro. Price was everywhere during the day and the clock being 5 seconds off means the difference between profit and loss for daytraders.

  2. I disagree. No matter what time your clock says, lag is lag and will be what it is going to be. Change your clock by a year and it does not matter.

  4. Can I use that on other ib bashing threads Tums. Its a nice alternative to calling someone a twat or a wanker. Or getting rude with them.

  5. I always set my clock 5 seconds AHEAD, so I get to see the quotes early.

    Helps a lot.

    Be my guest. ;-)

I like S777's direct approach though. LOL

  7. Sorry to hear you lost so much today when most everybody was killing it. You might want to switch brokers since your 5 second phobia is making you trade lousy.

I am seeing huge discrepencies between price quotes on my data service, DTN IQ, and those on IB. Just cost me a fair amount of money on a trade.

Possibly this is due to the lag discussed here.

Anyone else seeing the same? As much as 2-3 points difference on ES. Other futures contracts also way off.

I determined the problem was mine - my system. Rebooted cable modem, PC, etc., and it helped. But time to upgrade RAM. Too much data coming into my system for 1MB.
