Actually I also keep things very simple. Don't understand and cannot deal with complex trading strategies. One comment: I am looking for the mathematical Fractals formula for dealing with Fractals (some called repeated patterns) just to educate myself on a very interesting subject. Besides, some of the threads on Fractals are fascinating. Best to you.
I keep wanting to see stats from these fractal guys and nobody seems to be calling trading or providing any info. A while back one member did say he was still working on it, this was Illheroic I believe, but I can't recall if he was profitable yet or not. My point is that with such intense analysis, I would assume that the payoff should be really good. But not only do I never see no mention of trades in any of these discussions, but I also don't see anyone killing it. If they can't even get a 50% win rate, might as well just flip a coin and not waste all the time with the annotations, etc. I don't want to criticize anyone's method, but just like taking medicine, you at least want to see a study that says its good for you.
%% John Ehlers has had some good fractal patterns; better than average. I 've seen quite a few of his stats , but there are good reasons why i said its not rocket science. Nor would i care to repeat his stats Some may find his books helpful; but its not ''rocket science'' LOL+ no disrespect intended; its NOT rocket science. IBD [ Investors Business Daily ]has been much more helpful
Appreciate your comments. Fractals in biology and natural science are a beauty to watch. Stock prices on the other hand do not seem to have any well defined repeatable patterns and are very noisy so I am unable to make any sense using Fractals and that was the reason for my question. Perhaps the theory of chaos and turbulence fits stocks better. LOL, I am just kidding. Best to you.
Christopher Alexander's "A Pattern Language" is very illuminating. As well his most recent works - "The Nature of Order" "Quadrivium" is in a class by itself. Weaving through number, geometry, music and cosmology. Very visually satisfying. The market is very orderly with very clear signals. If that is not so, then one is paying attention to non-causal relationships. Levels of order are perceptual. They exist and influence your existence whether one believes in them or not. What is to people as water is to fish? (and yes, googling gives incorrect answers)
If you make money as a trader I highly doubt you would be on elitetrader.com LoL! Everyone looking for the same answers and this place might not have it.
%% Good points; bull market upTrends maybe much more orderly , than others. One reason for that, Mr Sprout[looking @ bear trends on this last sentence] is like Art Cashin NOTED =PANIC SELLERS NEVER WIN[Planned sellers can win]
