Why is GM failing so bad?

  1. That is why every single country that is wealthy is also heavily unionized and those who practice raw capitalism are poor sespools.

  2. I recently read ( sorry I can't remember the source) that it's common for many gm employees to make $100,000 + per year.
It was said that this is due to employees receiving double and triple overtime pay.
I do not know if this is true.

But nonetheless the company has been bled dry by UAW and GM employees. Couple that with incompetent management and you can see the end result. BOTh management and employees/union are to blame.

Any bailout dollars will be going into a black hole bottomless pit. I doubt the gov't can come up with enough dollars to save these companies. They are going to need more and more to survive.

And which countries are the wealthy ones?

I am not saying unions should go away completely, but their past was born from fighting horrible employment practices. NOT fighting for every dollar the company makes.

  5. no way that a union retiree can pull down $60 hr equivalent in benefits for sitting on his ass.

while Mexicans make $4.50 an hour on the assembly line.

this race was lost decades ago.

Exactly. I'll put the Ford F Series up against any truck on the planet. The Ford Taurus is also an excellent vehicle.

I'm not saying Hondas and Toyotas aren't excellent vehicles also, but this continual knocking of American made vehicles is ludicrous.

  7. Let me tell you why.
    I had a German student.
He told me that he had ADD and a little retarded and that is why he came to US for college.
He wanted to have extra time for exams, and I gave that to him.
He used this only in the first test.
After 4 tests, his average score is the highest in the class.
This is why: A retarded German is better than most American students.

  8. Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Holland...... here are some hard numbers:

Employers of the German private industry paid EUR 29.10 per hour worked in 2007. Compared with the other European countries, the level of labour costs in Germany was seventh after Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and the Netherlands. Denmark recorded the highest labour costs per hour worked with EUR 35.00 and Bulgaria the lowest with EUR 2.10.

In manufacturing, a sector with high exposure to international competition, one hour worked cost an average EUR 33.00 in Germany in 2007. So Germany ranked fourth in the European Union after Belgium, Sweden und Denmark.

As you can see those numbers are pretty high yet the economy is much healthier.

  9. Education is another Pandora's box and I think it is number 1 cause of the decline of the US. I would not say that a German retard is better than regular American, but the standard of education cannot be compared. What is even more interesting is that somebody with an education from Eastern Europe blows away both Western European and US colleagues. I once took calculus at my University and the class consisted of Russians, Asians, Israelis and me. The level was so intense, I remember studying 7 hours a day just to keep up and despite the effort i was hardly passing the class. The reason, those bastards all had Calculus in junior high (mind you this is Undergrad) and were basically re hashing the info. Needless to say, that was my last math class ever. :(
