That's a fair comment. Yes, it is about directional bias. But to the extent that you can trade either in direction of the lines or possibly even against them if they don't stand the test of time, I still think there is an S&R-like quality to the lines. But I get your point.
Every price level plot is a price overlay. Technical analysis of price interaction with the components chosen is price action trading. Combining it with other analysis doesn't negate these facts. Same thing Db does ...excluding of course the unproven allegation he earns a living as a stealth vendor.
They are not support and resistance levels. They are not trade signals. ACD is about doing quantitative analysis on volatility.
It's not even remotely the same thing. But please, this thread is off topic and we already have a very robust and lengthy ACD thread where you can discuss. This is one of the things that irks me about ET. You guys want to discuss topics on other threads that are not about that topic. As I said before, I have no issues with discussing the methodology, but we have a very active thread about it. This is the feedback section.
That was the point of my posting here. If he was in fact a "stealth vendor," then he should be subject to the rules regarding such activity. No argument there. However, that was never made clear, at least to my knowledge. And having been on the butt end of innuendo -- of the false variety -- I generally take umbrage at unsubstantiated allegations.
It bears repeating: I received quite a bit of help from DbPhoenix. He never once sent me a PM or email or otherwise reached out to me soliciting any sort of fee for instruction relationship. Lord knows if that was his intent I would have been a more than willing candidate. ET ought to have as part of its terms of service a rule that accusations of "stealth vendoring" be accompanied by evidence supporting the accusation, or the accuser risks being banned.
