He says so much. I've found him saying something once which I 'strongly' disagreed with. If it wasn't for him speaking his mind on that particular subject I (primarily my subconscious) wouldn't have worked as hard formulating stronger reasons why he was wrong. My conscious mind had all the objections lined up before I could even finish reading what he wrote without being distracted by all the reasons I knew he was wrong...but at least for me, I often need to replay things over the course of a long time before stronger reasoning eventually just appears right in front of me. It's not that I wasn't looking for something better. It required more than that. I needed to visualize his words in that post and what my reply to him would say. So in this case the reason I thank him for being wrong is because it kept me coming back to the words he said and rethinking it in new ways. When I say he was wrong in that particular case, I mean he was wrong at least as it pertains to my work. It's quite likely given the sum of everything else he knows ...his way is just as good for him. The result for me is even when DB said something I knew to be wrong ...it helped me considerably. I'm sure he's wrong about more than my one memorable experience but I've not read enough to know what those other areas might be. There's no record of this event anywhere because I never mentioned it to DB or anyone else before now. All my effort occurred internally. I worked it out on my own with my own charts, better than I ever would have without DB's memorable words, and the words of those he was having that discussion with. I owe DB (and those who joined him in conversation) a lot for everything they posted. I miss him and all those lively discussions. Going back and reading old stuff generally doesn't empower me as much ...to want to prove something bad enough that I'm able to break free from my limiting thoughts. Present tense is a much stronger motivator.
Yes, as long as it doesn't drive sponsors away, it is welcome. Even the most reasoned posters, if they make sponsors angry, the person get banned. That's the business model here and obviously it is highly effective.
I'd like to point out that Bone got hit really hard by a couple of members, for quite a while. While Baron did comment, if memory serves, he didn't stop the criticism because it was based on what was purportedly evidence, though obviously Bone disputed it and it wasn't proven beyond all doubt. We were left to draw our own conclusions. That exchange petered out. Baron did not act against anyone. That is not the only instance, Topstep Trader got hit pretty hard. I'll say it again, I'm here because I appreciate the respect for freedom of speech. That includes openly criticising Baron, as I've just seen happen.
That's an excellent point. I forgot about the flack bone ( a sponsor) took--- its not an algo but rather a real life decision making entity on elite. A human who really cares and that's what makes elite a great place.
Anybody who does a diservice to the Baron or his income stream , needs to be banned .Biting the hand that feeds is intolerable. Sponsors want traffic , the brokerage business model relies on recruiting new traders to replace the deceased .Traffic can be achieved by a healthy business model of profitable customers , who remain year after year , and new customers are won every year. If a forum can provide this model , you get more and more sponsors on your site.That is the business model you really want. You want a niche forum , where everything is transparent , short term pain but long term gain .Have a youtube forum that points to the best videos on trading and you will get hits , millions of hits Mark my words :Most forums will dissapear in a few years because YOUTUBE will take over .You can get everything you get on forums , but better on youtube.You will get better discussions on your utube forum than today's forums I know a search engine engineer making $100k a year Youtube forum will be linked to Elite traders
