Why is dbphoenix back?

Name something that could get him to want to come back and then your opinion about whether he should or shouldn't be allowed back might be worth considering.

In the meantime it's more beneficial to consider how to keep the users that are still here happy and coming back.

I followed a trail of posts that lead to here. While I was here I added content to correct a misunderstanding. As it turns out ..apparently it was me who had the incorrect info and DB has a pdf file he is offering for a nominal sum.

Imo that doesn't make him a vendor.

    !!!

Enjoy wasting your time debating that last line. Logically, (given there was any reason to want to debate whether he's a vendor) ...it can be proven he's not a vendor. No tricks, just a slightly modified non-linear process from the traditional linear approach. I'm sure Baron would agree but I'm not interested in proving the point, so it's understandable if he chooses to disagree if that's what he wishes...and that's going to help the site.

And the fact that he's getting banned from other forums for "vendor self-promotion" - does that make him a vendor?

Since I've been at this forum, I've had plenty of respect for your posts, and real interest in them, so I hope you won't mind my mentioning that it does seem pretty likely, to me, that you may perhaps have allowed your enthusiasm for DB to have misled you, on this occasion. [IMG]

Funny old business, "proof": it seems to me that it can be (and indeed "has been") proven that he is, unless you define "vendor" a really strange way, in this context, so as to exclude people selling e-books and promoting them against the rules enough to be getting banned from trading forums. Please don't feel slighted by this. I'm not interested in debating whether DB is a vendor. I'm fine with the fact that the official logical conclusion of 99.9 or whatever percent of the masses would view it as that. I accept from that official factual pov he's 'officially' a vendor. And not just a vendor but a 'banned' vendor. :)

That doesn't change my view of reality. In my world he's not a vendor.

My 'enthusiasm' for DB is not based on a desire to read every word he posts. IMO he posts too much for what I'm capable of consuming but occasionally he's said something that's stuck with me and helped me a lot. I can't say that about many people on this site or any site.

My enthusiasm is centered more on the FACT ..DB attracts a lot of other users who have their own unique ideas and vastly increases the level of trading content on the site. One in particular ... @fortydraws has some good ideas....and he's left the site, like some of the others that were here when we had DB here to draw them here.

It's not DB that interests me ...it's the general level of the content on the site when he's here needle'ing everyone to keep on topic and calling them out when he feels they deserve to be. Whether he's right or wrong for doing that isn't of interest to me because all I care about is it causes the site in general to produce the content that's interesting to me.

  5. Some general observations. This is an old thread, if I'm repeating myself, please understand.

I understand the points being made about DB, for and against. I had a run in once that led Magna to ban me from the thread for 5 days or a week or something. I asked valid questions, pointed out all the flaws and contradictions, and did it in very blunt language. Another time I took a quieter, reasoned approach. DB enjoyed the debate, then realised he was getting nowhere, and invited me to continue in P&R where he could be the colossal arsehole he was there. I declined, the basement hasn't appealed to me.

Disclosure done, I'd like to speak up for the character of ET that I love, and I'm sure many others do.

Shortly after I joined, a member who is no longer here, maybe no longer with us, using the handle Oldtime, said ET is like a saloon with a sawdust floor; you could chew tobacco and spit on the floor when you felt the need.

I understood what he meant, because pretty much at the same time I joined what was then BMT. I felt too constrained with the enforced genteel atmosphere there, and after a while stopped visiting.

Here on ET, you can expect a spade to be called a spade. If you come across as a know it all, or claim great success, it'll be all of 5 minutes before someone comes along and asks you for proof of claim. I've done it not too long ago.

It's in the nature of the crowd here. Make a claim and you will be asked to put up or shut up. It's not necessarily a bad thing.

I remember fortydraws. Started as a DB fanboy, then in his later posts claimed to be using numbers. I remember a post with a bunch of intraday OHLC numbers and something along the lines of people need to understand that to succeed.

I remember another chap who asked specific questions of DB and never got a straight answer.

There are good discussions here and there. There are some who add no value, just make a nuisance of themselves.

That's society at large. There seems to be a trend to only want to hear views we agree with. You see it in social media, indeed FB feeds you stuff you like, filtering out the stuff you don't agree with.

Too much of that leads to the sort of polarisation you see in society today. You are not constantly challenged, your views are reinforced, and pretty soon you have that tribal mentality.

All people want to hear nowadays is echoes. Then your world becomes the cave in which you hear the echoes.

Who cares? So do many here, myself included.

The guy is selling a $30 E-book. I don't think he's getting rich. I've read his posts on T2W, he seems OK to me.

That being said however, a $30 E-book is a goldmine to pick up women.

    "So what do you do"?
"I wrote a book about daytrading, .....its on Amazon".
    "Ouuuu this guy's hot"

Its kinda like having a patent or two .......which I always wanted to do.

    "So what do you do"?

"I have a couple patents I live off".

    What a killer line.

Where the rubber meets the road.....

Q: Why do men build skyscrapers?
    A: To get laid.

I don't know ya DB.... but if you read this.... come on back bro. Liven up the party here at ET. VZ will cover your back.

How do you do one of those poll posts? Maybe it should be brought to a vote.

Because of this thread, I read a bunch of this guy's posts. I'm still new here relatively.

    What's the beef?
Live and let live for gosh sakes.

    Its a friggin internet forum.
Who cares what he writes?! You either like it or you don't.
I know this is a trite and a worn out line in the world of cyber-forums.... but you haters.... "get a life". For real. The more posts the better imo.

Obviously this DB guy is no dummy.
Who cares if he was arrogant? Or portends to know it all?
If you can learn one thing... for free... isn't that the most important thing?

When I was a kid, I used to buy $40 VHS tapes on how to play guitar. Most were completely worthless in aggregate. But ya know what, .......even if they had 2 hours of worthless crap, .....if I learned just one teeny tiny trick,,,, it was, and still is.... WAY WORTH IT.

Thats how things work. Geez. Simple minds.

    jmho.

    Two things.

    1. Try to make a fucking point. If you can do it in one post, that's even better.
    2. You are a scatter brained cockroach.

    thanks. have a wonderful day.

  10. I don't care if he wants to come back. The reverential tone you use about the guy makes it seem that we are beholden to him and his bruised ego.

The second part of your post doesn't really matter either. Baron has decided to let people have at it. Your suggestion would probably include allowing DB Phoenix to start his own little threads and ban everyone from the conversation. I know how that guy operates and I certainly don't miss him, nor do many others.
