Why I might vote for Barack

  1. According to you link, the prime rate went to 20% in April, 1980. It then dipped, and later went to 21.50 in December, 1980.

In case you've forgotten, Reagan didn't take office until January, 1981.

  2. Bush is the WORST president ever or at least in the top three! And I actually voted for him the first time! What a total disappointment. Let's have some intellectual honesty and accept that albeit this guy may be fun to drink with he never was qualifed to lead this Nation other than as a figurehead (no I didn't say Fountainhead) !!

See...... whatever the "Do as I SAY, Not as i DO" party and it's supporters on these message boards say about Obama; one thing is certain. He has a high intelligence quotient and passion. Only the most decrepit, stodgy or narrow-minded snobs cannot at least concede that he has inspired millions who are looking to hear a different message. This country for too long now (since the 80's) has been ONLY about money and greed. It's time we reflect on what really matters when passing through this life.

Too much obscene wealth is misdirected to those who do not "trickle it down". One glaring example are the gluttons f/k/a "professional dumb-and-dumber" athletes who for some inexplicable reason are adored and idolized as "role" models. HUH? I can understand hero-worship back in the 30s - 70s. But today they are essentially hypocritical self-centered capitalistic pigs in pin-stripes. For the love of the game!!? What a sick distortion of that once-hallowed concept.

Well the same hold true for politicians. I would rather have a "less experienced" outsider who is an inspirational and passionate leader and willing to try new concepts and ideals and maybe distribute the "dream" to a broader segment of America (not just poor or lower demographics but the middle class who is being HAMMERED) OR at least try to create a more even playing field and see how it pans out, than a so-called "experienced" veteran politico who doesn't even remember when he or she first sold out!

  3. You're right, I stand corrected.

It did touch 20% for one month under Carter, and then stayed in the twenties under Reagan.

I was thinking of when it hit double digits, which was under Ford.

Quite a substantial list. One notable addition would be the handling or mishandling? of Katrina's aftermath. On a lighter note, attached please find an anatomy of Bush's mental map described in geographical terms.

    Prologue:

The first time I met [George W.] Bush, I knew he was differentOne who did not know. The other was that he had the confident to ask questions that he didn't know very much."

  6. Obama may be intelligent, but he is not wise. Anyone who can sit for 20 years under the pastoral care of Jim Wright and his well-known constant rantings, and not see the problem until it affects his presidential aspirations is not ready to lead the country.

Hilary was right. All we have, is a speech. But I don't want here in the office either.

The problem is, he will NOT be the VP. If Biden were the choice, I would have a lot less problem.

  7. I agree with you about your Wright comments. However I note you do NOT give him ANY credit for breaking off that relationship when he realized that Wright had not evolved with the times....

So tell me when have you seen any iright-winger do anything similar in recent years??!

  8. He dropped Wright like a bad habit when it became difficult to explain why he was a longtime member of a black separatist church run a by a raving lunatic. He was perfectly happy to be identified with Wright as long as it served his needs.

Honestly, you can't be this naive. I don't care whom you vote for, but at least don't trust any politician, democrat or republican. They are all liars, charlatans and users.

  9. Probably so... but every so often we find a diamond in the rough who does at half-way decent job. Look back at history.

  10. Obama will be a much better president than McCain.

    Few key traits:

    1/ Temperament
    2/ Keener mind
    3/ Non-abrasive

Yes, he's black and that one single factor probably turns off many moderate whites.

however, based on his recent reaction to the McCain circus ( stopping campaign heading to DC, no debates etc etc ), I can tell he is a thinking man.

Put Mccain in there and he'll begin to try and "make his mark" right away.

McCain is old, he doesn't have time to manufacture a legacy.

Also, at the age of 74, McCain seems to act like a small boy who missed his Ritalin dosage.

Obama seems to pause and thinks things through before making a rash decision. It is much better to have him in there and NOT do anything.

McCain is basically stupid. It's very obvious. It is unwise to have a second stupid president right after Bush.
