The problem with ignore is that not everyone uses it. So when you ignore the idiots, you still get lots or replies and refutations for the posts which you no longer see from people who are not ignoring the idiots. This makes following conversations a bit tedious. I suspect this is the type of hijacking to which Thunderdog refers. - Curtis
I suspect much like Fark.com, politically divisive posts and members are "good for business" at ET. they raise post counts and page views which pays the rent..
