Why good platforms ignore mac?

  1. a) I stated half linux, half windows (among the two) which even you admitted is correct.
    b) yous BS about active/nonactive is TOTAL NONSENSE. Why? Because each day my linked-to research portal pings, accesses, and queries over 10,000,000 servers and obviously of those they received responses and which factor into their stats, all are active.
    c) I made many more claims and one was that Windows Server is by far not as negligible as some users claimed. If you are late to the party then you should read up before you just pick the latest post, make tons of inferences and then publish your garbage.

  3. my computer just received the "ran out of arguments" signal. Time to check out. Have a good one Jack-In-your-box, and enjoy your linux install, I heard you can now also use USB sticks, LOL. (http://elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?p=3980174#post3980174)

  5. well at least now you can upload all your iPad and iPhone songs to your linux box. Oh wait, shit, no iTunes on linux, and even then you still have to do a simple music file uploa through iTunes. Welcome to the convenient Apple and Linux world, lol. I would also run out of patience if I already had to content with this garbage.

  7. you can do a simple google search to come across hundreds of articles that clearly speak in favor of VS and its many more functionalities over Eclipse. The opposite applies probably to less than a dozen articles. Or can you profile GPU threads on the Eclipse IDE? ( I am aware of Visual VM for Java but do not think they can profile GPU threads) I could list another 100 if not more features that VS offers and that Eclipse does not. And I did not just consider the core packages, in which case VS would also blow away Eclipse. I am talking about either IDE with all their third party tools included.

Having read all the 17 pages just now (cause i forgot about the thread) :D i can say that the decision was made the day after i started the thread, to get back to my old shabby Microsoft PC for trading. for trading ONLY! For me mac is not about the marketing, the price ..whatever, it's about usability, design, i just really enjoy using it. Howerver, i'm pretty sure that this is an arse-ache for developers to get the app whitelisted by Apple

Gents, lets get back to the original question of the OP. Let's hope (s)he is still following the thread. Amibroker can be run on OS X using Wine or Codeweaver with minor annoyances (copy and paste from some outside Amibroker source is not working properly) - well I can live with that.

One of the things I just do not like is that Apple still asks premium prices for old technology - with my low CPU requirements I am seriously considering the PC-FIT intense PC with an i7 CPU for the price the base Mac mini is costing. And instead of a one year warranty I'll be getting 5 years.

Another item is that Apple's software support for older hardware stops sooner than I like. On the outside the Apple Mac mini is a nice compact box and I like the internal power supply but inside it is fragile. One has to be very, very carefull when replacing the HDD with a SSD let's one break of one of those connectors and be up for buying a new logic board which pricetag is plain ridiculous.
