My goodness... I will make it simple. 1. I will not be the one to disprove evolution. I have no problem with most definitions of evolution. The concept of evolution and a Creator can coexist. 2. I just gave you cutting edge reasons to understand there is evidence of design. Did you not Read the dawkins information I provided. Read points 4 and 5.... and he one of the most outspoken atheists in the world. He was already quoted on this thread. You can lead an ET atheist to water....
You are quoting Dawkins as evidence of the existence of god? Secondly, how do you justify copying and pasting a bunch of pro-religious articles, and saying "there's your evidence". It is equivalent to me saying "you want proof no god exists? Read The God Delusion." In any case, I know how all of these discussions end up.......nowhere. Therefore, I am done with this thread.
I dont understand why these arguments always go in the exact same circles, both sides are absolutely rigid in their beliefs, and they never get anything accomplished. I dont know why neither side is willing to bend, perhaps it is my view point which skews the way i think, but i often wonder why people will defend either side blindly in the face of logic. I believe you would have to be assinine to believe in a single organised religion,(that would mean 95% of other people are going to hell) and particularly to believe in a wrathful god who is sitting out there waiting to punish you for your sins. I remember a book one time where an author compared this common conception of god to a rose gardener who one day wakes up and realises that he does not like exactly the way his roses grew so he decides to not only go out and torch the garden, but he decides to sit there burning these roses all day everyday, as punishment for them not coming out the way he wanted. I simply can not believe that there is someone or something out there which created the universe, who would create something so beautiful, and give it free will, and then decided to punish it relentlessly because it did not come out the way he wanted. With that being said, there are many laws which we as a society hold true to this day, and the bible may very well be the foundation for the basic set of principles of law as we know it. Thou shall not kill Thou shall not steal Thou shall not covet thy neighbors wife Thou shall not disobey thy parents. Thou shall not pass! (ok i admit that was gandolf from lord of the rings) All these are principles which we currently base day to day decisionsélaws on, and there is no denying that this has created a framework for everyone living on planet earth to live by. What i am getting at is the flip side of the coin is that I do not understand how people can believe that everything in the universe which we as humans have come to know came from something the size of an atom and was completely random. If people do believe in this then who created the original atom size dot which came to be known as the universe. I believe this requires just as much faith as the guy who is a fundamentalist muslim/christian/buddhist, etc. Is there a presence bigger than what we know of out there? I have no doubt there is. I dont know if everything presented in the bible is true, but there is definately a message in most of the various stories presented in the bible/various religious books which can provide you a much deeper meaning if you take the chance to analyse and look a little deeper into it. There are various stories i could go over in the bible and the quran, which if people would just take the time to analyse, the world would be a much better place. Someone must have been very smart many years ago to think up such stories, and the deep meanings which hold true to this day behind these very stories, or else there may be something they knew which we didnt. I dont know, for all i know our reality is we are living in a programmed life like the movie "The Matrix," either way you got to have faith to believe but neither side will ever agree, even when presented with tons of facts which discredit the opinion.
r u as dense and emotional as the other crazy et atheists? let me explain something to you... Logic can not be discredited by saying it came from this source or that. That is a childish tactic of leftist losers. Now try an refute the point made by Dawkins. Physicists can not explain why the universe looks so fine tuned. I have given you multiple fine tunings in the last few pages. One of them being the cosmological constant. Did you notice the numbers associated with the other fine tunings. Do numbers like one chance in 10 to the 123 zeros... even make you think.. but we must sure be of the charts lucky to be here? Thats science and top scientists not religion. By the way I am quoting Dawkins... I now respect him because he has a point of view... but he is wiling to present the counter to his point of view accurately. Good for him.
you can't prove god so why believe it? you can't conceive of an experiment that would prove god. you can't even render a definition of god that could be dis-proved. adding god creates a problem that has NO solution, logically or empirically. why would a rational human being wish to do that
I'm not being facetious either the evidence for the 2 is the same. Just because you accept the evidence in one case but automatically dismiss the same evidence for the other is of no valid concern. The Only relevant question is: What evidence do you personally need to believe in God's existence?
After participating in many threads such as this one over the years, I find that there is really one question that demands and answer, for in that answer I think the solution to the problem of the conflict that exists between atheists and theists will be found: Here is the question: Why do people think or feel that another person needs to conform to their own personal belief system that revolves around the unknown and unknowable? (Yes, scientists are practicing a belief system...this is undeniable). Science clearly does not have all the answers, never has and never will...nor does non science have all the answers...so why do certain people act as if the answers they have chosen are in any manner superior to another human being? Why is it so hard to just live and let live when it comes to personal belief systems that are essentially internal in nature?
No one is "forcing" another into any particular viewpoint... Why do YOU post? "...if human beings are anything special, we are the creatures that must ponder and talk." --Stephen Jay Gould
