You should follow when key economic reports are released...

    http://cbs.marketwatch.com/tools/marketsummary/calendars/economic.asp?x=1&siteid=mktw

There weren't any on Mon, Tues and Weds.

There were lots of them yesterday on Thurs and a few today Friday.

If your a trader that depends on volatility...today and yesterday are trading days you do not want to avoid.

On trading days like the first three days of the week (no key U.S. economic reports)...you want to pay special attention to news about the dollar, OPEC and global news because they will more often than not have an impact on the U.S. markets.

    The big picture.
