In the first case, the barrier is obviously psychological - specially if this is 10 meters above ground - I used to confuse overconfidence with willingness to take risk! I am very glad this is now sorted. I will read his book. Thanks for mentioning it. I am curious : as you still do some trading, has the way you looked to trading change since you fixed a ridiculously "easy" goal?
Yes I never stopped trading my own account and some OPM. Frankly it didn't change much, cause trading is almost mechanical job for me, including emotional side of it. When "simple" also becomes "easy" is after enough experience to not question your trades much.
It is interesting that you experience trading as mechanical, and on the "technical" side and on the "emotional" side.
Emotional reactions evolve depending on experience we have. For most of us, while struggling to become profitable trading is a trauma. That by itself is a serious barrier, cause such emotions are reinforced. But as one becomes more consistent emotions also change. Positive reinforcement kicks in. As a result for a profitable trader the process itself can become a pleasure. Guess that's the case with many occupations where people are successful.
May be that's why people are well advised to go into something they are really truely passionate about. ( just seeing that one superbe spike has swept many traders. ) Regarding trauma related to trading and the serious barriers then developed. I hope you know I lost a 6 figure trading in one day, all the while being hunted down and harassed mercilessly. So I understand what trauma in trading is all about.
Yes, I believe you do understand. Also understand without any doubts, how hard it is to get back on positive track. So more credits to you as you overcome that. As for doing something one feels passionate about, I think it was Confucius who said: "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Not sure if it was actually him, but good advice by any means.
Of course it is him. Let's say, though I had already seen a lot, it was beyond my imagination to come across people - via merely renting some office space - demonstrating such levels of cruaulty, mercilessness, and evilness. Till now I still wonder if they actually practice some type of cult that promotes these practices. I was obviously very much open about any stuff that worked to help me cope first and also pass it on to the other victims for them to use it as they could. I am very glad good samaritans exist.
would be strange to start coaching a real psy, but if you are curious about some stuff that do work, let me know.
