I guess the reason I've never had this issue using stop limit orders is because my entries are always within a range, so I get in early on moves that are going to extend. I've only made about 40 CL trades, so I'm not speaking from a huge base of data, but if it hasn't happened in 40 trades made at all times of day, my guess is that it's not going to be a high probability phenomenon for me. For someone with a different way of selecting entries, using a stop limit for entries might be the worst idea ever.
to THEBLACKHAND: read above post. you mention just trading 'the numbers', what does this mean exactly? TIA
Using a stop limit at the exact price....sure you could miss a move. But if you set it to a certain number of ticks to work that limit you shouldn't miss anything. (Work a 90 stop limit with a 5 tick max. Will go in as a 90.05 bid lifting whatever is there from 90.00 to 90.05). You just have to know each market well enough to decide how much to chase. Working a regular stop market to enter a trade, especially into a breakout can be a disaster. Try it in Nat Gas or Gold this fall when things really start moving around. Slippage can be brutal.
theblackhand?? no elaboration..just "numbers". maybe you trade using t/a too and just do not want to discuss?

Is anyone currently trading the Jack Hershy Equity method? I am new to it and currently enrolled in a trial at Trade Navigator in the hope they would have the required filters. It seems they only have part of them. Technical support helped me contruct one of two missing filters. If anyone is using Trade Navigator or any other system to filter I would GREATLY appreciate a word back
