Here's the article: http://online.wsj.com/article/0,,SB112190164023291519,00.html There's a nice encapsulation of core issue with humans trading: The researchers believe fear had a lot to do with the poor performance of nonbrain-damaged participants. "If you just observe these people, they know the right thing to do is invest in every single round," says Baba Shiv, an associate professor of marketing at the Stanford business school and a co-author of the study. "But when they actually get into the game, they start reacting to the outcomes of the previous rounds."
What is the role of technical analysis in trading? Is it about reading a dynamic map ?By reading a chart or the map , if you were to analyse technical analysis correctly , does it make you profitable? What do you use the map for?Can using ta predict the price direction?
Unless one is throwing a dart at newspaper on wall on what to buy or sell, I believe we all are using some form of TA. One topic that I didn't read, what's the definition of TA, there are tons of books that address the authors' beliefs of what a simple 3 bar moving average might be, and he might also have a few different ways to approach how to use it. But what many don't realize in as simple as a 3 bar moving average, how is it even calculated? Is it 3 bars in a row, every 3rd bar, only "Prime" numbered bars, 3 to 3rd power? If you don't thoroughly understand it, how can you even think about testing it. I think too many people get caught into mindset that more is better, and that is true if you are cranking out 98% winning trades, but in day trading for most, less is better. Too many believe they need faster indicators to see reversals quicker, faster to me means faster fake signals, slow is much better. Having 1-2 entry signals is more that enough for me generated by TA. If you watch TA long enough, it just represents price in a different way. Some traders can see S/R as clear as bell and others can't see it, whereas a simple moving average can show them easier. Too many spend time making new signals, taking losing trades and somehow turning them into winners is wrong. I believe in concentrating on winning trades, why were they profitable, and just waiting for those setups and sitting on their hands, TA might work for them.
Wee, two page is too long document. Way too long. But regarding discretionary trading: simple rules don't even closely guarantee one will be profitable anytime soon. Because other (mental/emotional etc.) issues arise, especially during live trading.
Not even that long.Just 3 lines . Just go loNg when moving average is green and short when it is red , stop 30 pips , exit on reverse signal , use betting position sizes to recover losses and run your profits on 15 min. Now , which fuckin idiot wants to sell a course on technical anylyses?F O
