Why does TA not work (for you)?

  1. So no TA real time calls? Is the 10% gain within 3o days still a "call"?

PS. what do you TAers say about oil here CL? Think its going to break higher today above 96.25?

  2. Surf, I'll step up. give a stock to follow, and we will follow it. I will use my brand of TA, and give buy and sell signals, how fair is that?

I already made a call on the ES, but I am too lazy to go look it up.

Anyways, you want before the fact calls on any stock you want. I keep a dbase of them just for fun. So, here you go, how about it?

  3. To me, it's just obvious and common sense. The market is made up of people trying to make money on various instruments. Beyond NOISE from the day traders people have not changed and are fairly predictable. Thei actions are recorded on the charts. Of course news will change future behaviors but there are large periods of time where there is no news and price action is predictable and profitable.

  5. Why do you have such a hard time following?

I made the real time call in ITP.to this morning.
I also told you the recent trade I entered just a few days ago in PCYC.
We can all watch them both play out. I am still in the ITP trade but I don't need glasses to see the amazing trend it has printed with the majority of green days over red days and I like that and have no problem entering at market today.
You can take the PCYC trade from today forward if you are that skeptical.

Both trades are risky to me right now and my gut says they may not play out as the overall market has had a good run and is due for a pullback or even a correction. I ascertain this from the daily S & P chart.

    Does this work for everyone?

  6. It's interesting that you put the request for a "call" in this way. I actually think this way of approaching a trade trips people up because they anticipate too much and don't get solid confirmations.

The way I work is, if CL goes to price A, I do action B. If it goes to price C, I do action D.

Why would I care what it does when it is not at either A or C? Why would I care if it reaches A or C first, either? I'm flexible. If CL reaching price A means I go long and it reaches price A, I go long. If CL reaching price C means I go short and it reaches price C, I go short.

I think that the thing to remember is that there's always enough left in a "meaningful" move that you can wait for the right signals to come together for confirmation. I once waited for the ES to move 25 points, jumped in and still took 16 points off the trade. That's the power of being able to identify a "trend". I know, "trends don't exist", only, they do.

Trying to get in ahead of a move is for the birds. Livermore had it right that you have to identify "the path of least resistance" and jump in at exactly the moment you think you've identified it.

  7. Okay fair enuf. What is the symbol you wish me to track. I will post on it every day. Again, with TA. Calls made in advance, stops in real time.
