The Civilizations that the Nation of Israel encountered and went to war against, all had foreknowledge of the power that God had displayed in the Exodus of His people from Pharaoh and the nation of Egypt. All were idolaters and unwilling to repent in spite of the victories and power than accompanied the Israelite army. They could have spared themselves, see Rahab. Hate to break it to you, God hasn't changed and will condemn all sin just like in the past. At the judgment he will not only judge the physical but spiritual, justly and perfect requiring the debt for all offense to be paid.
The answer FreeThinker to the question poised in this thread, Why does God allow...." Isn't why does God allow bad things to happen, because if we all got what we really deserved it wouldn't be a pretty sight. The question to answer is "why does God allow good things to happen to bad people".
got to murder the little babies by smashing them against the rocks. they could be idolaters: Psalm 137:9 King James Version (KJV) 9Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you. written by George Carlin
Yep, so much God sent his only begotten Son, so who ever would believe in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God didn't send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. But he that believes on God's Son is not condemned, but he who doesn't believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But whoever does what is true comes to the light so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God." Jesus
The basic ideal of Christianity, that of an all powerful father-figure demanding a blood sacrifice before he can change his own mind about whether or not to torture his own creations for eternity has never struck me as a model of ethics or morality. (Louis Cypher) The belief in eternal torment, still subscribed to by fundamentalist Christian denominations, undoubtedly ranks as the most vicious and reprehensible doctrine of classical Christianity. It has resulted in an incalculable amount of psychological torture, especially among children where it is employed as a terror tactic to prompt obedience. (George H. Smith)
It would be nice to hear from something other than quotes. I for one am not certain of a fiery brimstone hell, but I do believe in it's existence, and I'm sure I don't want to end up there. To me it's more of a total void. When you are presented with the eternal truth, standing before God, finally understanding, experiencing His love and awsome Holiness..... to have that taken away forever and cast into a place void of anything good knowing eternal separation from the Truth.. will be worse than anything we can conjure in our imaginations. ... ie. Wailing and Gnashing of teeth.
Lol That's a disambiguation page you tool. No wonder you haven't a clue. Proof of impossibility in mathematics, which you gave as an example for Proving a negative, is not Proving a negative, is therefore a wrong example, and is ignorant. You thinking a wiki disambiguation page is a definition, is sad yes, but very funny
Terrorism is not morally defensible. Threats are not a basis for love. Telling yourself horror stories to justify a belief in something reprehensible, is hardly a wholesome thing for anyone to do.
