    1) Older than dirt.

    2) Swing trade stocks. Hold for 2 day to forever if the stock keeps increasing in price. If I make a day trade it’s because my stock hit a stop the same day I entered.

    3) 35 years in the market; 15 years active trading.

    4) I evolved with the advent of technology; from a full service broker to placing trades by telephone at a discount broker to a direct access online broker.

    5) To maintain my lifestyle. I need better returns than a term deposit will give me.

    I retired in 2000 then watched the tech wreck decimate my portfolio. I had no idea what to do so I held and eventually recovered but I didn’t want to go through that again. I developed a strategy that allows me to take small bites out of the market, protect my capital and capture a reasonable return. My system had me out of the market in the fall of 2008 missing most of the downturn.

    all the questions are pretty personal to answer,

    ===Why people trade?===

    it' similar to question people asked famous British mountaineer George Malory: "Why do you want to climb Mount Everest?"

    "Because it is there"' - answered Malory (he died during the attempt )

    Some people attempt to climb the mountain, some others attempt to conquer the trading - that what some people do, they try to achieve something no one (or very few) did before...

    Exploration - is a part of a human nature.

    But just a few people has that need developed very strongly....

    And while for the most of the people exploration ends with a new job or a new house in a new neighborhood, there are some for whom exploration and discovery of what they are made of expressed in sailing solo in a dingy around the world, of flying to the stars...

    Going into trading is imho in the same category... and very few survive.

    But money is not a motivation for trading, money is a just a result of the success.
