  1. Now that's a real answer.

Guys, this is not a job interview question.

Of course you can study that and should, understand the whys of how other traders seek their signals. But knowing what kind of drawdown a pattern has done in past and if it made money. Take for instance a pattern that breakevens 80% of the time and 10% profitable trades and 10% losing trades so overall it losses money cause of the commissions. Most would view this as a pattern most would not ever consider to trade, right? But if you were to average down on every level or tick against the position and then exit at original entry price or plus one tick, now you have a method that has 90% profitable trades. So if you were just studying the buy/sell, you could miss out.

Trading is enjoyable once you get a handle on it because you know you have finally succeeded where a great many others including some very smart people have tried and failed. That's real achievement, above and beyond the financial independence (which doesn't suck either. :))

The journey to trading success may or may not be enjoyable depending on your temperament and the particular path you choose to take.

It's only enjoyable in a mentally self-tortuous sort of way, or the way an addict would find his drogas of choice enjoyable.

As abattia and erniej pointed out, some people enjoy solving open-ended puzzles. Evidently you aren't one of those people.

It is the ultimate strategy game. If you are right you are richly rewarded, on the other side you are wrong and fail..

The game is still the same as it was 150 year ago, just that the tools and platforms have evolved since then. The game has gotten more available for everyone, if you have $1000 in your hand you can play. :D
