Not to pile on, but in this case, you're completely off-topic regardless of intention. @cornix is surveying traders' individual goals and motivations, not calling for a debate about the validity of their activities or beliefs. Exactly not the subject of this thread. There are already plenty of others for that stuff. This one is most certainly not centered around @dbphoenix (well, it wasn't until about page 10 when you two started bickering publicly).
The problem is that the thread is not about him. And MS craves attention. And when he doesn't get enough of it, he embarks on yet another of his tired crusades, intruding on thread after thread, making discussion ever more difficult. Whatever one might say about MS, no one can deny that he lacks common courtesy. He may depart from this one, but it's just Whack-a-Mole.
i also trade because of the intellectual challenge of accomplishing something that most people say can't be done.
I trade to make money without giving up a lot of time for it. Although there are other things I like about trading, including the wonder of watching the ebb and flow of markets, the fun of having a trade come out well, a sense of independence, and the knowledge that nobody can take it away from me, at least until I get too old to trade. But these reasons would not be strong enough to get me to trade if it were not profitable. There are plenty of other, more interesting things I would rather do with my time. Unlike a job or running a business, trading (or at least my brand of it) can be done in a few hours a month. One has no boss to please, no customers to take care of, all the vacations one wants to take, no renters to deal with, and very little overhead. Of course, the business of learning trading is very time consuming. However, I was sure I could do it because other people have done it, and I don't think they are all smarter than I am.
I think you've identified almost all the problems a trader will face and has given practical advice for solving those problems. It's time to thank you once again for your contributions to this forum.
