Yeah, right , you will learn me to be a winner ? Let's see , you lost -0.82 % in the month of april in your managed account www.profitnavigation.com but in your paper account with pureslick you made a profit. Good for you , you can still make money with your lies and fake paper results.
Regardless of what motivates profitable traders to trade and teach at the same time, it's good to know that such traders actually exist !
You teach people how to trade, yet have about 2200 posts on this site? Seems like marketing to me. I have known over 5 "gurus" and all of them got people to pay them thousands and actually had a negative P/L. Some of them said "nobody will make it" when they were done teaching. They then try to sell them more useless stuff and make fun of the students when they leave the office. trust me on this. They all had great reasons why not to show P/L, it was comical, but sad. Austin will likely spend another 5000 posts without revealing P/L. that is what they do. All smoke and mirrors, no hard evidence. Good traders know it's all about making money, and if they are good they should be proud to show that they have done it. He seems to have decided that time is better spend posting than using his guru methods to make money. If you are good, prove you methods have worked for the master at least, right?? Is it true you hosted a live event and then closed early after days of losses? I am the greatest basketball player of all time. And for 10,000 I will teach you. Wouldn't you really want to see some stats? Most corrupt industry ever. One question. If you want people to pay you on how to make money, shouldn't you show that you can make money?
Search his posts in this thread http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=149597&perpage=20&pagenumber=83 Or just search in general...
The above makes perfect sense to me. Kobe Bryant plays basketball in front of the world each game. He does not need an audited statistician to prove he is good. The analogy is so correct. I have to make market calls every day in front of the world in real time. I do not have the luxury of going back and massaging numbers. I make the trading calls. If a trader has followed them they should have made money. If they did not follow the calls they have not made money. Can not get more clear than that. And what managed account program is it that is better than 95% of its peer group? Successfully, Alex L. it all dependends on how you define "profitable" they are profitable in that their profits come from teaching . .. they do trade, so they are traders too . .. it's only that their profits come from teaching, that's all we have some vicious circle here . . . i don't know . . . i just don't know anymore . . . i'm lost
One can't help but feel empathy for people who struggle to figure out this business. On the other hand, it is a simple and straightforward project to find help. You have to be able to THINK critically about what it is that you need. If you need education, then go get it. Use the Internet to research. If you don't know how to research then THAT is your first task...I think much of the problem for new and aspiring traders is that they want to jump past important and much needed basics....That won't work. After one has a basic background, the next step is to find an approach that works....Again one needs the basic tools, of research, evaluation, and testing and IN ADDITION now you need to find a system that fits your personality and temperment. Finally one needs to learn to execute with discipline, to evaluation the results and adapt as necessary to a dynamic environment (the market) that is periodically changing. This is the last hurdle to long term success. As for educators, this is no different than any other problem. You look carefully at what an educator proposes to do for you. If that program moves you toward your goals in a thoughtful way, and you are making progress, then go with it. Learn to see the obvious. If something isn't working, and you have given it a decent shot, move on....you will take losses during the process, and hopefully you will learn from each moment enough to get where you want to go.... Best of luck. Stevesbg
"Call me when you have no class" ---- Rodney Dangerfield I will admit that chest thumping and bragging about one's accomplishments is tacky, classless, and uh let's see (this is from stuff I actually wrote about 30 years ago) worthless, stupid, vainglorious and probably a few negative other crap. I have a book of poetry I wrote in the sixties. I also still have Ray Steven's "Mr. Businessman record. I truly felt that "Money is the root of all evil." But last night, flying above the clouds in an aircraft that I bought from my efforts---well I sort of joined the other side. I can tell you guys a few stories but the trading week is about to begin. The arena calls. I saw Kobe and the Pittsburgh Penguins all jumping around (multi millionaires all) and chest pounding and I did understand a little about what it means to work hard and triumph. I can tell you a real story about my old hero, Bob Dylan and the tirade he put on at Proskauer, Rose Goetz and Mendelsohn when he wanted some poor schlep put out of business because he dared sell a Bob Dylan T-shirt without giving poor Bob (who hated the establishment and greedy businessmen) his royalties. Part of me does still hold the original ideas of "why doesn't Bill Gates just walk away and sit on a beach drinking and watching the sunset every day, now that he has it made?" Why doesn't that greedy bastard Warren Buffet stop giving CNBC a tour of his jet? Don't you hate rich guys showing off their aircraft? I do. When their aircraft is better than mine. I promise you guys when I get my Cirrus Jet in a couple of years I still will criticize anyone showing off their 737's. Travolta is a Capitalist Pig. Hey wait. This is a site about trading and money isn't it? If we love poverty shouldn't we be hitting the Mother Teresa web site? Successfully, Alex L. The reason we teach people is because we are passionate about helping others. Why not do something you love to do anyways and make a few bucks doing it if you can.
It's ok to be a trading guru. If I remember my Sanskrit correctly, "guru" means "someone who, being preoccupied with matters of nirvana, never trades, and has never traded, but teaches others how to trade, to finance his serene being" That's what it is by definition, so nothing wrong with that.
