Im on team "Prime Time" Sanders so I am happy.. You didn't answer the most important question, How do you generate ideas?? Your problem is you are limited, and quite possibly sabotaging your trading by your beliefs. You don't know what you don't know.. I have never met a successful trader or athlete with your mind set
Good Morning taowave, How are you? I'm sleepy from staying up late watching Colorado game. Good game. I will respond in detail shortly to explain. I have to walk the dog.
Two good suggestions. Thanks. I am purely stocks, buy & hold + long options, no index. Will take a look at futures.
When you said daytrading I assumed you were speaking of index futures. My error. Personally, I like the longer cycles for stocks. Not saying they aren’t viable for intraday trading, just that highly leveraged instruments like futures are better. But that is only my opinion and there are many ways to trade. I think it’s a good idea to trade what you know best.
Yeah, I have no problem with about a 10% annualized gain (stock gain, option, dividend). If it's more, that is fine too. Picking up dimes and quarters with very little steamrollers. Holding quality companies...Some/many get called away. I owned both Walmart and Target...Did leaps way OTM on both. Walmart got called, Target tanked. If and when Walmart drops, I will try and reenter. Both I got dividends, options, and price appreciation...In my mind, nothing wrong with that.
My point is that you're implying that you own AAPL from 120 is disingenuous given that, by your own admission, you're called at 130-140.
I sent you a PM as an aside. I really have a hard time keeping track of my trades...Entry, exit, options, captured dividends. Some stand out, but I am not going to go back into the bowels of my trades at Schwab or Fidelity (Morgan Stanley even longer) or even here, and see what I have done. I believe I have traded Apple 4 to 5 times over my lifetime. I can't recall the trades. I believe I made at least a 10% annualized return on it. Others, I admit my failures... About 98% of my trades, I DO NOT remember my entry and exit points. They are unimportant for the most part...I am sure you do the same. General principles rather than being exact. So, yes you got me. I do not remember an entry point of a trade awhile back...
No need to apologize sir. I know you are legit & genuine. I trade options for my highly leveraged trades. Never look at futures because I have never been exposed to them. I want to get back and figure out how to day trade because it is fascinating and it requires that I change my mindset. In option trades, I need an opinion. In day trades, I have no opinion.
