I wouldn't say this is the key... It is a basic, fundamental, aspect of trading that many people fail at because of their psychology, but it is far from the "key to trading."
First, I had to laugh about this quote. I know I am a bit late to the show on this one, but it is the truth. It is absolutely the truth. Australia is beautiful, I prefer it to the states (from Calif), but sometimes you get the feeling that everyone in this country is a bit.....off, like the cousins at the picnic that everyone sort of just tolerates, well I think that Aussie parents drill into their kids a feeling of inferiority and it permeates the culture. It is one of the reasons for the apparent disdain for 'Yanks' - Yanks are as a whole entirely too confident and that is taken as sign of cockiness. But this shouldn't take anything away from the geography and lifestyle. It really is an amazing country. Speaking of Australians.... I'd like to point out that Daryl Guppy has written a nice little book (one of many) called Trend Trading. In it you can follow along with an exercise that clearly points out why people can look at the same thing and 'see' different things and come to different conclusions. It is a great exercise in perception and illustrates why if you release an excellent (profitable) system into the public domain you will not see the deterioration of the system, as many have argued.
I think my post on my profitable strategy would be even longer if I didn't shut it down. Shows that many lazy wannabe's on this site. peace.
LOL if that isn't the biggest stereotype I've seen, then I don't know what is. All of my friends, family and people I see on the street are friendly as could be. Always willing to give you the time of day, they don't shrug you off. Is it possible that you're the one who is a little.... off? It's not only our country that is beautiful, the majority of the people are too. Just because you hang around a few deadbeats doesn't mean that's what everyone else is like. If you don't like us, you may leave.
Hey, holmes, I don't think that the sterotype of an Australian is someone who is wary of cocky Yanks and holds an excessive inferiority complex....... In fact, if you take the average person in Iowa or New York or Texas, they would probably tell you that they (having never been to Australia) think Aussies are laid back, funny, etc etc. And all of that is true. I love Aussies. I just think that they: 1) Might be better off raising their children in a more positive light (does the highest suicide rate in the world among teenagers belong to Canada? - No, that is unfortunately Australia's claim.) and 2) Don't need to interpret American confidence as "cockiness." In fact, the two might be related. That is, if more Australians were more likely to encourage American bravado and confidence amoung their offspring then maybe the nation wouldn't have an epidemic inferiority complex AND maybe Yanks wouldn't be seen as cocky bastards. Don't misinterpret what I am saying. I love Australia, I love Australians, I love everything about Australia. I just find this pervasive inferiority complex quite interesting. .....And I find it funny that you call this a stereotype......I don't think the average person in ANY country (who has never been to Australia) would even MENTION the Australian inferiority complex. But obviously it is top of mind for you..... I wonder why.....
I think those Foster beer commercials have done a moreto distort the image Americans have of Austrailians than anything.
Hey system_of_an_up, Maybe stereotype wasn't the right word. I appreciate your point of view and I don't actually find Americans cocky. I wasn't aware we have the highest suicide rate in the world amongst teenagers, but you aren't that narrow minded to you think it's always the parents fault, are you? Maybe they should stop paying mothers $4000 to have a baby? Maybe some of those suicides are directly related to the shitty drugs either making it across our border or being manufactured here? Mental health is a epidemic, and yes most of the people there are from drugs. They might not be teenagers but they have suicidal tendencies too. I don't think you can blame the parents for the high suicide rate, there's a whole host of reasons behind it. I think this is off topic.
