Why do financial forums attract such a high rate of ego hungry individuals?

  1. <i>"Because losers can't bare to deal with their failure and hide behind a veil of success where none exists. These forums are an outlet to fantasize, brag and act like a bigshot as losses mount and depresssion sets in..."</i>

In between patients this morning, Doc? At $300 hourly billed, it must cost you a pretty penny to be in here with us gamblers.

BTW... <i>bare</i> is spelled b-e-a-r in your given context. Perhaps you have a secretary or assistant dictating your prose in here. The rest of us must do it manually for ourselves.

Yes, my assistant wrote that. Please stop stalking me around the forum. If you want to see a professional analyst in your area, send me an email and I'll see if I can make a recommendation.

    Take care.

    Likewise.

I'm not stalking you... these are the only active threads not reduced to unreadable, infantile flames that have zero to do with trading.

Wonder why you aren't trying equally hard to counsel others in here. See any hapless souls in need of emotional repair out there in ET? That is, if you are truly board certified.

  5. Actually, AP, if volatility doesn't pick up I suppose you could call this a bare market! :D

    Good trading to all.

Unfortunately, I agree about the quality of the threads. What does that say about the posters?

Austinpowers, I wasn't trying to counsel you. I happen to notice you because of your arrogant and condescending tone in posting your trading conquests. In that respect, you are in a minority here, but rest assured the forum is littered with traders who could benefit from counseling.

Interestingly, the people who have the most to gain from my experienece are the winners, not losers. Do you have any idea why?

  7. I think you are completely missing it.

You are focusing on individual posters...
As opposed to the underlying Community Culture...
Which is created and controlled by the owners.

    All one has to do...
    Is compare ET Trader Forum...
    With 2+2 Poker Forums.

    It's a valid comparison...
Because both have similar demographics and traffic...
And both address a highly competitive Zero Sum Game.

The difference is like night and day...
Because, by design, 2+2 is dominated by successful poker players...
While ET is dominated by marginal or losing traders.

    2+2 cares about quality...
    And is intelligently moderated...
In order to force a high level of Quality Control.
Stoopid threads and abusive posts are deleted.

    Quality attracts more quality...
And an intelligent, civilized community is created...
Which is then more or less self-policing.

    AT ET ONLY VOLUME MATTERS...
So no discernable, civilized culture is created or exists.
Talented people are repelled by a chaotic culture...
And it becomes a vicious circle.

  8. Congratulations.

You just posted logical fallacy #25,111 of the day...
Unwittingly employing the "exception proves the rule" fallacy...
And failed to even address basic point of "community culture"...
So your conclusion is highly suspect.

    Tomorrow...
I could come up with a new user name...
And put up 1000 completely erroneous, nonsensical, argumentative posts on ET...
And insult someone with every 3rd post...
And no one would even notice or care.
