Well, it looks like stop & frisk is coming back to NYC, so the law will be better defined by more rulings. No court is going to require an equal amount of stops according to race when that doesn't fit the crime statistics.

It wont be equal but far more balanced than it was. When more white (and Asian)people start getting stopped and searched to balance out the numbers it wont last imo.

Well I'm looking forward to being frisked by some NY police officer in this next year. Looks like I'm moving to Brooklyn for six months with the missus.

Having done a bit of the old enforcement of laws in poor areas, I expect that the stop and search actually had little benefit but adding loads of visible police in the neighbourhoods was the actual difference.

    Not the way it was

"In fact, as American courts have affirmed over many years, stop, question and frisk is a perfectly legal, appropriate and constitutional tool, when used smartly, as opposed to indiscriminately against hundreds of thousands of young Black and Brown men,

Well ipatent posted this so he must have read it.

"But in a November op-ed article, Adams claimed "stop and frisk" was a good policy that was applied incorrectly. He said it was worth reviving if used in a more just way.

"In fact, as American courts have affirmed over many years, stop, question and frisk is a perfectly legal, appropriate and constitutional tool, when used smartly, as opposed to indiscriminately against hundreds of thousands of young Black and Brown men, as it was for years in New York City," Adams wrote in the New York Daily News. "Not only that, but it is a necessary tool, whereby police approach someone who fits a witness description or otherwise appears to be carrying an illegal weapon."

    "

Guess I'm gonna get frisked. May not be happy.
