And the track record where they have the ability to institute some real world change is soooo good. Nice red box eh? Over there on the right Tony. 40,000 homicides: Retracing 63 years of murder in ChicagoBy Kyle Bentle, Jonathon Berlin, Ryan Marx and Kori Rumore Apr 27, 2021 at 12:14 PM Chicago saw a homicide total lower in 2020 of 770, a tragic jump over the 496 from 2019. The spike in violent crime that has plagued Chicago since 2016 has even more gravity when viewed in comparison with six decades of homicides in Chicago. Since 1957, the city has had homicide totals of 700, 27 of 63 years, and has been lower than 500 a third of the time, 20 of 62 years. To understand this long-term view, the Tribune asked two experts to give perspective as to what was behind Chicago crime decade by decade, and combed through news coverage going back to the 1960s. +++++++++++++++++++ 40K..... NBC News: ..... Three years later, after the election of Mayor Rudy Giuliani, New York began to place greater emphasis on stop-and-frisk tactics, in which officers would briefly detain someone they suspected of wrongdoing and perform a pat-down frisk for weapons. New York also adopted a system of statistical analysis known as "Compstat," which targeted enforcement at hot spots of crime and imposed greater managerial accountability on police command staff. The policy was continued by New York's next mayor, Bloomberg, who took office in 2002. Beginning in 1991, New York experienced the broadest and deepest decline in violent crime of any major American city. By 2013, Bloomberg's last year as mayor, the murder rate had dropped to 3.3 per 100,000 population, or 335 in a city of more than 8 million. Chicago, in contrast, with a population less than half that of New York, had 415 homicides in 2013. New York's homicide drop was concentrated in firearms-related homicides committed outdoors. +++++++++++++++++ Should crazy Rudy run for mayor of Chicago? How many innocent lives would be saved Tony? Those children you speak of. Facts are facts. Right? Right. I can't help it if I always am. Right that is.

So based on the current news reports this is a shooting which was targeted and the house shot up -- not just some random bullet. Also the family members claimed they know who did the shooting but are refusing to give the name to police. Furthermore they are criticizing the "police response time" -- while at the same time it appears they refuse to cooperate with the police. Fortunately it appears this young girl is going to recover.
