Of course it hinders innovation, you are going to see in the years to come how it changes the mindset of individuals especially these stupid kids doing this remote learning. Someone told me recently that students were ALLOWED to opt out of the classroom to receive at home schooling. That to me is amazing..that kids can opt out. It was nearly half that did.

  3. WFM seems to work best in project oriented positions. If I need X done by X date I do not really care how it is done.

I find that I work better from home, because I don't have to deal with a 3-hour commute every day.

US corps don't offshore south. They offshore north to Canada.

Whoa whoa! Don't project onto others what you do at home!

But hey how do you setup your sex doll in your 20 square meter room?

Here we have an example of someone who couldn't work from home and is bitter about it.

@S2007S sorry you aren't working from home because you have to give blowjobs behind Wendy's to fund your $5 ETrade account after you blew up shorting a 10+ year bull market.

Same with the tech companies I'm consulting for. My interpretation is the delays in responses and other mental barriers to interacting fully naturally in remote calls is the source of drag on innovativeness. Some tech companies do just fine being remote only though so not sure what the difference is in how they do things.

That said, I do hope for a greater degree of flexibility on average becomes the new norm after COVID. People should be able to work out of offices sometimes, and all the time if they take a pay cut reflecting the fact they will be less innovative/cooperative.

My current tech company uses some remote Mexicans.

This is not traditional offshoring, but a remotely distributed team.
A team might be 2 people in London, 2 in eastern europe, 2 in Mexico and 2 in the US.

The thing i see, if you have 10 team members currently all working remotely in various US locations.
The temptation will to use a few team members from abroad, in the same timezone, as it makes little difference when none of the team is in the same office location anyway.

When Facebook says 50% of workers will be remote in 5 to 10 years time, you can bet they don't mean all remotely located within the USA.
