Genius isnt required for all types of trading and is rendered useless if a genius attempts those styles of trading. There are some types of trading where genius is an edge, but then you are in competition with other geniuses and only the top 20% of geniuses will make money.
Trading is an emotional game. Feelings have a lot to do with it. Just like the 'dating game'. Genius doesn't help when it comes to that area either, and may actually be a hindrance too. There is a couple of existing threads that compare trading to dating. If i change the OP's original post, and replace 'Trading' with Dating, we get something like:
Bona fide genius Sir Isaac Newton lost a fortune in the South Sea Bubble. He was quoted as saying, "I can calculate the movement of the stars, but not the madness of men".
Einstein also lost a good chunk of his Nobel prize money in the crash of '29. However i dont think either is entirely relevant to what the OP is saying. Neither probably spent much time trying to figure out the trading game. They were way too busy figuring out much more important things.
I've noticed that the vast majority of people who claim to be experts on what geniuses can and can't do aren't geniuses. It's like asking a KKK member what it's like to be black.
