first - the question is what is "american" for you? the horror your current government stands for? the bullshit from mtv, etc.? if this is america at its best - then it is no wonder that more and more people out- AND IN-side the us are disgusted. who determines (for you) what is "american" and what is not? a few politicians that are in power for only a few years? or the media? or some big companies who want to sell their crap to you? or who? anybody who thinks that his personal values and views are typical and valid for the entire country he lives in is an intolerant mule. that has nothing to do with patriotism or whatever.
dunno, but i have been taught that patriotism means speaking out vs everything that's wrong with my country and any act against liberties and justice...never once i met someone that told me patriotism means sucking your leaders cocks...of course that is...until i met vermin77.
There are 1.5 billion muslims on the planet, there are 5 billion idiots on the planet, a lot of them are stupid, jelous, lazy, intellectually dishonest people who blame all the world's problems on America... otherwise they would have to blame these problems on themselves. Still an overwhelming majority of people are not anti-american but they are a silent majority. All internet boards, chat rooms, blogs etc are on the other side infested with extremely vocal Anti-American (and antisemitic) garbage. On the other side who could blame them, they have no power, no brain, no money and no chance to ever get power, brain or money. The only thing they can do is whine about Amerikkka and the Zionist Entity on the internets.
Yep, more or less. Foremost I express my disbelieve that some people are so sure it isn't. And arent't you the one called 'moderator' to moderate the direction and temper of the discussion. Might try to be a bit more neutral. Calling a contribuant a 'nut job' hardly qualifies. Ursa..
Because America has become a place that's so jingoistic that voicing a concern about the direction the country or the performace of it's current leaders is considered unpatriotic and un-American. I noticed that all of your explanations put the blame on the "anti Americans". Is it not possible that some of the world is outraged at the foreign policy put forth by this administration? When was the last time a country invaded another country and didn't cause an outrage? Is is completely inconcievable that America is doing something wrong? Before you lable me "un-American", consider this. I believe that America is still a democracy, and democracies are about the voice of the people. If your country is doing something you don't believe in, you have the right (obligation?) to speak out against it. This comes from being terrified about the direction of the country. I believe it's great, one of the best places in the world to live, and I sure as hell want to keep it that way. TNG
Bit, your posts without the name-calling would have no substance whatsoever. BTW... you are punishing yourself, not me. Think about it.
