Good question and you are right .... just by someone proving they are profitable doesn't necessarily HELP anyone else. BUT...and I don't need to tell you the retail trader success rate... i'm sure it would provide a LOT of inspiration to people in an industry not exactly know for the success of the small guy.
I do believe that some serious traders are commenting on reddit, but most in those threads are gambling YOLO
Good point..I agree it is not a game of "right" v "wrong". It's about having the right money management and ACCEPTING right and wrong. "Profitable traders are not crowd followers"...mostly I'd agree and I definitely do not see myself as a crowd follower, but these last few years I've see people with comparatively little trading experience making a LOT more money than me by doing exactly that...."Buy nVidia, buy Bitcoin, buy ES bla bla bla..you can't fail". Sometimes it is good to follow the crowd...u just need to know (from knowledge of prior crashes) when they are starting to pull the rug from beneath your feet.
Yes, but, you can judge those coaches by the results their athlethes are getting. I know one coach here in Norway who's had tremendous results. He recently started training a new athlete and he's been getting great results, too. So, yes, he's an excellent coach as shown by his results. The OP raises a valid point as trading is the one field where "Trust me bro" or blind faith is sufficient. Traders with a verified track record or coaches with verifiable results is a rare find in this business. Be that EliteTrader or anywhere else.
Excellent...and that is kind of my main point about trading. The lack of verification. You aren't gonna pay £100m for the next 18 year old football wonderkid without SOME kind of proof.
Why would any older profitable trader on Elite reveal themselves? They don’t really care about money or opinions(Unless it’s the Market saying they’re wrong.), just the game.
EliteTrader is an anonymous forum, though. I don't find the lack of track records here surprising as most people here are only here for light socializing. Anyone who's trying to 'mentor' or 'teach' and won't back up their results in any way is worth caution, though. In fact, it's a good rule of thumb to be skeptical both here and elsewhere.
My favorite is reason number 3. Alot of the older, boomer, traders feel just because they have multiple decades of failed average market experience that they are somehow magically superior and better than you. But the overall Bottom Line to this question is because there are a ton of failed/average traders out there. A ton of them would be shamed if you see their market returns with the amount of time expensed devoted to this field craft Coaching, Teaching, Mentoring is a lost cause. Some people are simply not cut out for this line of work. Everyone in life has an optimal destiny pathway purpose. Know yours
Because they post to Reddit or other Forums, because @Baron allows people of poor character (Overnight. MB, ChistheGrub, Buy2Sell1 etc) to act like Grubs. Why educate certain Grubs on beating Index.
