    Quote from bighog:

When one tells the truth and is not attempting to spin the truth the situation can usually be explained in a small paragraph. Tell i falsehood and it never ends, constantly needs explaining and tweaks. Republicans are con artist's for the rich to stroke the public.

get on board with Obama http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=268ncnoitEc

  2. I didn't read, nor was I responding to the post that you cited.

Republicans need to look at what is said, and not what they feel. Emotionalisms are no substitute for good policy, or good posting.

    Arnie

    This is my favorite.

Just before a campaign speech in Illinois, Mr Bush said to his running mate Dick Cheney: "There's Adam Clymer, major league asshole from the New York Times."

This is the asshole in question

  6. You got outraged because you associated a different post, on a different subject, from a different poster to me, even though my message clearly quotes which poster it is responding to.

Your statement was that he was "spinning" how he didn't go the church service that day.

    Show us your evidence.

I'm afraid Thunderdog's position stands unchallenged at this point.

See? That's a good example -- the quotes from Wright that I've seen on the web were from the last one and a half years or so, long after Obama and his family went to DC.

And yet, Republicans will confuse timelines (or lie about timelines) to try and score points.

Let me get this strait...You quoted me..responded ..and now your saying you were quoting someone else???? SPIN it baby!!!

  8. It's the press. They do have a huge influence on how things are quoted, what gets quoted and the context it is provided in. Many surveys show 80%+ of the "mainstream press" are registered Democrats. You bet that gets in the way of how things are edited and reported.

An example - I lived in Texas when I was in the Army from 93-97. During that time, GWB debated and ran against Ann Taylor, about the smoothest talker in the Democratic party, and beat her straight up in 94. He was governor until 2000. During that time, I never recall him being described as a buffoon, idiot, retard, stupid, or anything similar. In fact, he was widely regarded in Texas by most as being highly successful, with the state doing very well, and his initiatives around education and treatment of juvenile crime getting a ton of credit.

That all changed overnight, from when he began to run for President. Now I'm not saying he flubbed his words, said stupid things from time to time, and shouldn't be responsible for a lack of planning around Iraq, but as far as the hold stubpidity thing is concerned, its funny how it popped up overnight, and then repeated over and over on the evening news, and even Hollywood was jumping on board. It's like they all were reading off the same script.

Anyone from Texas during that time, feel free to give an opinion. Was he framed in the same way from 94-2000, by press probably much closer to him on a day to day basis?

I consider myself Libertarian for the most part, but it is interesting how Republicans are invariably described as "mean," "angry", and as being rife with sexual problems, while Democrats always have "hope", "diversity", "middle class roots", conscience", etc when they are described on the news. And there's never a line drawn between Spitzer, McGreevy, and others the way there is between Republicans. Just funny really. Must work though I figure.

  9. I'm addressing YOUR comment about Obama's statement about Wright.

Which you haven't explained. Nor defended. Nor justified. Nor cited any evidence for.

  10. Can you cite two of them? And if the press is so pro-Democrat, why were over 75% of the articles about Obama negative, versus something like 58% for McCain.
