Why are Republicans such a nasty bunch ?

  1. The Dems are much nicer....Look at how well they treated the 2nd African American to ever be nominated for the supreme court? Boy, Im sure Clarence was glad it was no longer 1960!
When John Tower was at hearings, The Hon. Sen. Ted Kennedy was very nice and held his tongue as Tower was accused of womanizing and excessive drinking by others on the panel.
Former KKK card carrying member Robert Byrd was a total gentlemen when he bravely stood on the senate floor and asked that we stop the impeachment of Clinton.
Democrat Rev. Al Sharpton has always treated Republicans with dignity and respect...the Rev. Jesse Jackson as well. Both ran for president under the democratic flag and were quite nice. They never accused republicans of being racist or fascist.
Former First lady Hillary was very nice when she denied her husband f+cked and intern and "blamed it on a vast right wing conspiracy"...She was even nicer when her and her husband politely asked the FBI to turn over all records for any perceived enemy..
Both Hillary and Bill were extremely nice when they lamented the death of Vince Foster.
The liberal press was nice enough to report a DWI against George Bush form 25 years ealier 2 days before the 2000 election..thanks guys for your generosity.
Jesse Jackson was nice enough to call new york "hymie town"...he was just joking not being nasty against Jews.
..And Charlie Rengal is just the most articulate man WHO, while disagreeing with the repubs, always does so in a nice manner..
Speaking of Manners, that NJ governor showed such manners when he asked his wife to join him and his male lover in bed...THAT is a gentleman
and tat Spitzer guy??? Well..Thank you Ellliot for cleaning up the bad guys and going on a witch hunt to expel the demonic capitalistic pigs out of Wall street...and he only reason you asked for police records on all your republican challengers in the state was because you wanted to make sure they were not market timing mutual funds..thank you Elliott for not letting these republicans prostitute themselves out for personal gain...oops...did I say prostitute???

You are correct...the Dems are much nicer, never play games or secretly go behind the scenes to control power...its just a republican thing

  2. Gee, thanks for the sentiment. Okay, you may follow American politics far more closely than I do, so please do me a favor. Kindly cite examples where Democrats not only repeated or perhaps slightly exaggerated true stuff about Republicans, but where they actually made stuff up completely from whole cloth. In other words, where they engaged in outright and blatant lies about the other side.

Truth be told, I have no doubt that there are "dirty Dems," as you say. However, I suspect that they are greatly outnumbered by, as you refer to them, "dirty Repubs."

  3. Wait a second...Are you serious??? Do you actually beleive the dems don;t do spin either?? Ok my get on with OB...Please tell me how long it took OB to finally reject the Rev Wright??? his spin was " i didn't go to that sermon that day"???? Come on....wake up people...THEY ALL ARE GUILTY!!!

  4. I have it on good authority that he didn't inhale during those sermons. :D

Cut the man some slack. Try not to blame Obama too much just because someone ELSE went off the deep end, and Obama may or may not have been there at the time to see it. It doesn't mean he necessarily agreed with the angry guy. And, in any event, he distanced himself. What more do you want? A blood sacrifice to the gods?

And speaking about stones and glass houses, how about those hatemongering ultra Right Wing men of god, eh? Rather than at least attempting to distance themselves from them, the Republicans actually embraced them. :p

  5. There's no question that Democrats can be nasty, but the reality is that Thunderdog is right -- when a Republican says something evil or stupid Democrats will use it against them. When a Democrat says something, anything, the Republicans will lie and exaggerate what was said.

    Examples can be seen above.

  6. See? That's a good example -- the quotes from Wright that I've seen on the web were from the last one and a half years or so, long after Obama and his family went to DC.

And yet, Republicans will confuse timelines (or lie about timelines) to try and score points.

  7. Actually we were talking about 'SPIN"...read the post again...ya see, a good example of a Dem hearing and reading ONLY what they want and then going off on a tangent...

my point was OB was using SPIN regarding the wright situation...I actually have said on here before that I thought he handled it pretty well...but don;t try and tell me he didn;t use the ol spin doctor to try and minimize the thing...why did he use spin? Obviously he wants to placate the minority vote while at the same time " get all those white voters that hillary said he can't win"

BTW...who said anything about 'TIMELINES"?? There you go again..

  8. You mean like when the democrats went wild with the "mccain wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years" remark?

Even the Columbia school of Journalism, which is left wing, said the democrats were guilty of grossly distorting what mccain was saying.

I'm beginning to think there is little hope for our country when liberals, who think just like you, comprise half the electorate.

  9. Well if he hadn't said that then it would be unfair of them to quote him.

But he said that. He then went on to backtrack, "if we're not taking casualties" which really shows how out of touch he is with the situation in Iraq. Was it unfair of the Democrats? Yes. Was it dishonest? No, as he actually said these words and he believes that it's okay if we're in Iraq for 100 years. Compare to Gore's "invented the Internet" fake quote.

Everybody's left wing, that's just a way of gaming the ref - even in this case when you agree with the press.

I agree, except that my complaint is people who have immersed themselves in the echo chamber of Fox News.

  10. Well the original post was how Obama was presumably lying about not hearing the quotes. Kind of tough to do that if you're in a different city, I feel.
