Given the fact that you are a far left loon, im shocked that you arent upset that taxpayer dollars are being used to fund a great big corporation like tesla. I wonder what your opinion would have been if we were talking about monsanto, or haliburton.
This topic goes to the heart of free market capitalism and, more importantly our general freedom, and, its why you should care - a lot. Religion and politics aside, this trend of "control and nanny" the population is absurd. Look, I don't give a shit about guns, the bible etc etc, but, neat cars... I love cool cars and the Tesla is a cool car that will disrupt the auto industry. For idiotic politicians to stop and/or control that disruption is criminal. http://money.cnn.com/2013/05/09/autos/tesla-model-s-consumer-reports/
Here Lemme help you out. The correct colloquial term is not dog whistle, it's "red herring" (fallacy) and really unfortunate that it and pussy show up in the same post.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You do not answer the question. You distract.
Tesla is hardly an example of the free market. I've said electric cars get subsidized too much. Turns out I was wrong. In California, they are subsidized ridiculously too much. Tesla gets $45,000 for each car it sells in state and federal subsidies. The Tesla S starts at $69,000, so about 40% of its total cost is subsidies (Tesla isnât making any big profits). ... Remember, the Tesla avoids perhaps 10 tons of CO2 (more likely, with its large battery pack it avoids nothing or even *increases* total CO2 emissions). That means Americans pay at least $5,000 per ton of CO2 avoided â about a thousand times more than the price in the European Trading System. http://tomnelson.blogspot.ca/2013/05/lomborg-on-ridiculous-subsidies-for.html
I agree You should care - a lot. The 2nd amendment is practically the only thing standing between us and even more "control and nanny" of the population. I agree again. But I live in GA and did not help put those NC republicans in office.
All good points, but, so what? It's fast as hell and handles really well. http://www.autoblog.com/2012/08/27/motor-trend-tests-tesla-model-s-finds-0-60-in-3-9-sec-an/ How many other cars can do 0-60 in 3.9s in that price range?
