Maybe it s because..... âGodâ-awful OWS mob steals sacred item from church By CANDICE M. GIOVE Thereâs no longer room at the inn at a Manhattan church thatâs sheltering Occupy Wall Streeters after a holy vessel disappeared from the altar last week. When the Rev. Bob Brashear prepared for Sunday services at West Park Presbyterian Church on West 86th Street, he noticed parts of the bronze baptismal font were gone. In a fire-and-brimstone message to occupiers later that day, he thundered, âIt was like pissing on the 99 percent.â B'KLYN POL SUPPORTER FLIP-FLOPS ON HOME INVADERS In Brooklyn, at another church housing OWS protesters, an occupier urinated on a cross, according to Rabbi Chaim Gruber, who has angrily abandoned the OWS movement. In a letter last week to OWS obtained by The Post, the rabbi fumed, âThe Park Slope church housing occupiers was desecrated when an occupier peed inside the building and the pee came into contact with a cross.â The pastor of the church did not return calls. At West Park, Rev. Brashear walked into the church for a morning service to find the 18-inch-diameter bronze basin and lid missing from the baptismal fontâs 800-pound base. Holy water â straight from the River Jordan â had been poured from the missing basin insert into the baseâs bowl. About 60 occupiers had rolled out their sleeping bags between the pews the night before as part of their evening ritual, Rev. Brashear recalled. When they returned to the church later, following the pastorâs discovery, he issued a stern warning: âYou have 24 hours to find it and to come up with an amends and to come up with a plan. âIâm sorry and it wonât happen againâ wonât work,â he scolded. The artifact vanished just three weeks after a $2,400 Apple MacBook vanished from Brashearâs office. He told the occupiers that even when the 100-year-old Upper West Side church extended help to addicts during the 1980s drug scourge, no visitors touched its $12,500 sacramental instrument. âNot even crackheads messed with that,â he said. The pastor and a worshipper finally found the missing basin tossed into a small room connected to the church. The lid is still missing. The pastor has given protesters two weeks to vacate the church. I don't understand it either. They are just law breakers like Obama and Pelosi. They should be sticking together like glue.
following the pastorâs discovery, he issued a stern warning: âYou have 24 hours to find it and to come up with an amends and to come up with a plan. âIâm sorry and it wonât happen againâ wonât work,â he scolded. Definitely a New Yorker.
Based on the predictions of the contents of Obama's SOTU address, it sounds like he's going to be running TO the occupy movement. Hopefully to the 60%+ of Americans that sympathize with the ideas, and less so to the street level protestors. (Even Marx didn't know what to do with the lumpen proletariat. )
he's not that stupid. he will be a politician and talk out both sides of his mouth. supporting the principles while seeking to institute a framework which can foster real change... or some b.s. like that.
...or maybe Karl Rove's super-PAC (or any of the others that sprung up) will start running adds with those sound bites of Obama's showing his support next to pics of flea-baggers shitting in the streets, damaged property, the riots, these type of stories, etc. Ricter says that 60% of the people agree with the principles of OWS (I think it is probably higher) but a significantly lower percentage disagree with the way the message that WAS delivered this past year, which can be summed up as greed (PAY MY DAMN TUITION!!, theft of property, etc) or anarchy (pick any OWS encamped city).
