Probably the tards or someone here -not mutually exclusive categories- will call me a racist piece of shiite for even saying this outloud, but, a simple country boy like me would think that "GOLDBERG" is a jewish name and that a bearer of such a name would be a little more savvy about some issues either by birth or marriage. Or did she just pull that name out of her arse one day and decide to use it and for what purpose. I mean, what does it get her? Nevermind. Pretend I never asked. Friends should not allow friends to try to enter the mind of a loon and figure out how it works. Probably I will get banned from Fakebook, Twitter, and Instacrap for even asking. Were it not for the minor detail that I do not have accounts with them.

It's a stage name she invented... Caryn Elaine Johnson (born November 13, 1955),[1][2][3] known professionally as Whoopi Goldberg (/ˈwʊpi/), is an American actor, comedian, author, and television personality.[ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whoopi_Goldberg Some more --- She has stated that her stage forename ("Whoopi") was taken from a whoopee cushion: "When you're performing on stage, you never really have time to go into the bathroom and close the door. So if you get a little gassy, you've got to let it go. So people used to say to me, 'You're like a whoopee cushion.' And that's where the name came from."[15] About her stage surname, she claimed in 2011, "My mother did not name me Whoopi, but Goldberg is my name—it's part of my family, part of my heritage, just like being black", and "I just know I am Jewish. I practice nothing. I don't go to temple, but I do remember the holidays."[16] She has stated that "people would say 'Come on, are you Jewish?' And I always say 'Would you ask me that if I was white? I bet not.'"[16] One account recalls that her mother, Emma Johnson, thought the family's original surname was "not Jewish enough" for her daughter to become a star.[16] Researcher Henry Louis Gates Jr. found that all of Goldberg's traceable ancestors were African Americans, that she had no known German or Jewish ancestry, and that none of her ancestors were named Goldberg.[12] Results of a DNA test, revealed in the 2006 PBS documentary African American Lives, traced part of her ancestry to the Papel and Bayote people of modern-day Guinea-Bissau. Her admixture test indicates that she is of 92 percent sub-Saharan African origin and of 8 percent European origin.[17]
I see. Apparently everyone but me knows that "Goldberg" is a concantenated form of "Johnson." It's complicated I guess.
That is the license that Hollywood gives itself. But when anyone else does it, it is called "cultural appropriation." Maybe I will change my name to Harriet Tubman. And using Whoopi logic, there would be some truth to it because my ancestry- along with seven billion other people on this planet- goes back to Africa after the first 200,000 generations and many of my ancestors were women, so I have claims to that to.
Well in that case maybe we will get to see your picture on the $20 bill -- even though it may shock a few people who thought Harriet was black lady. The family is getting impatient so let's hurry things along... When will Harriet Tubman be on the $20 bill? Family grows impatient https://www.wane.com/news/when-will-harriet-tubman-be-on-the-20-bill-family-grows-impatient/
Well, that does sound good but as Whoopi and Omar would say, it is about the Benjamins for me. So maybe bump that up a little.
