Who would've thought a country of atheists has more morals (and balls) than us?

  1. Jem,

I have an even better alternative. Why don't you actually take a look at the passages that pielthetwister has referred us to. Then consider his interpretations of the passages, and mine side by side.

And then let us know, who's views you may or may not agree with and on which points.

I ask this because I believe you've got quite a bit going on upstairs, and some people here will maybe even consider your thoughts on the matter, instead of reading the words with a mind geared for rebuttal.

  2. I don't have a problem saying Jesus, but if you've got a problem with me saying Christ we can switch it up. Hell, we can call him Jimmy if it makes you happy, just let me know.

I was trying to keep it simple for the slight to severe retards who frequent the forum. I thought if I used Jesus in one sentence then Christ in another, some may get confused and think I was talking about different people.

I wouldn't want to leave any retards out of the conversation.

    Welcome :)

That slip about conservatives was actually just troll bait.

Looks like it may have caught one :).

Actually no, I don't condone homosexual marriage for reasons I'd be happy to discuss further.

I was simply pointing out to peil that JESUS didn't address the issue in the way that peil thought he did. JESUS was addressing the question of what reasons allowed for divorce.

  3. Maybe you just need to take a closer look at what it means to fulfill. To fulfill doesn't remotely come close to meaning that something that was in the past is still valid, as your desires would like. It's quite the contrary.

To fulfill means to carry out, or accomplish what was predicted or promised.

It was predicted that Christ would come along and lay down the law, or set the record straight and that is exactly what is he is trying to do.

You can choose whether or not you will obey such law, but it won't help you or others to distort the meaning of the message to suit your personal goals and needs.

Christ did not come to address the old laws, but rather to lay the law down.

If the message actually meant what you have hoped, then we can presume that you are all for polygamy and slavery?

18“For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.19“Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.[/QUOTE]

Have you considered, that Christ is simply telling a bunch of lost souls that they had better listen up?

If they choose to obey the law in which HE has laid down, then things will be pretty darn good for them. But IF they choose to disobey the laws, then things will be not so good for them.

How do we know that Christ is referring to HIS laws rather than the old laws?

Simple. Just re-read the lesson above in which Christ is trying to teach the Conservatives-oops- I mean Pharisees the lesson in which a man can divorce his wife.

I will explain to you once again that Christ points out what WAS said IN THE BEGINNING is somewhat different to what Moses says to his people LATER, regarding the subject of divorce.

Could it possibly be, that what he is alluding to is, that the old laws used to be adequate- that is before people starting twisting them around to suit their wants and desires?

I think you'll find that as you submerge an open mind and heart into Christ's teachings, you will see a pattern where he continually is essentially instructing his students and adversaries to not be so caught up in the old laws, but rather to pay more attention to what HE is saying.

The old laws have been twisted from their true meaning in an older language, but remain much the same.

Christ is here to set the record straight once and for all, which he sadly has been unable to accomplish, as the vast majority of listeners continue to hear what they want instead of that which is true.

    Brilliant, seriously.

  5. Bottom line, Jesus was just a man. He knew what was known during the bronze age. We now know homosexuality is not choice for the vast majority of gays and is actually due to how a person is person is born. It is an inherent physiological characteristic akin to being left handed of having a propensity toward high blood pressure.

Given Jesus's railings against the Pharisees for being too dogmatic and doctrinal, it seems logical that were he aware of the current scientific understanding of homosexuality he would not condemn or deny any rights to homosexuals. He was, above all, a man of empathy, acceptance and love. He would be loathe to condemn a loving relationship.

(Luke 11:46) Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them."
Jesus compounds His anger towards these evildoers when He says “And you…” You can almost hear Jesus saying “You guys… You guys think you are different? Now I’ll get to you…” He calls out their pious rules as burdens and says their continued lack of compassion and love for people is not only wrong but astonishing as they won’t even “lift one finger to help them”.

watching people torture scripture to try to make it mean what they want is fascinating. They do the same with everything, "science" is pure torture of the facts quite often...

Either people stand for Jesus or they fall for everything else. Trying to explain why some people will twist scripture and others will just read/understand is silly; Jesus said that people that like his voice when they hear it will come to him, people that don't like his voice won't.

People driven by evil hearts will always behave like the lost. That's nothing new. However, WE'VE ALLOWED liberals to dictate America since the sixties. It's time we stop and say enough. If we don't, turn the lights out on America, and await His wrath...

  8. How come then in 1940-1970 only 9% of gays said they were born that way? How come until 1983 when the gay movement was politicized did the number never go up?

How come 82% of those currently lesbian and 66% of those currently gay said that they had been in love with someone of the opposite sex?

How come 74% of gays admitted to having been sexually aroused by a female and 80% of lesbians said that they had been sexually aroused by a male?

Read the research. They were not born that way and 90% of gays know that too. They just want you to condone their lifestyle.

I thought you were writing that just like the Pharisees got it all wrong, conservatives have it all wrong. I thought you were implying God is far more accepting.

I do not think Jesus was teaching that God is more accepting. I think the point Jesus was showing us God is far more forgiving so repent and follow him.

Perhaps I mis understood your point.
I would be happy to read what you have to say.
