Tax and spend Democrats are squarely to blame for all the US's debt problems. Republicans passed a balanced budget law in the Reagan years and a couple of tax and spend jerks took it to the supreme court and got it thrown out... there hasn't been any real fiscal responsibility since that time. Sure, Clinton starved the military, the infrastructured, etc., and had a surplus but not if you counted unfunded liabilities at the time...

The last decline in debt was under a Republican controlled congress and most of the latest parabolic up surge was under a democrat controlled congress.

Confirming Eight's premise which lil' Ricter seems to think he's successfully disputed.

Looks like the electorate needs to throw out the dems in the senate in Nov.

Why shouldn't GW spend? Democrats refuse to reign in their tax and spend shit so he should stand by and let them spend on whatever THEY want? No, he might as well spend on what HE wants to.

Dems might be "tax and spend", but on the evidence reps are 'spend but don't tax'. From a deficit and debt standpoint, the latter practice is the fiscally irresponsible one.

Why argue with Ricter? The man has no conceptual understanding of economics, and you'll just waste your "breath".

    Credit Downgrade
    by Reince Priebus

One year ago yesterday, as a result of President Obama's failure to cut the debt and rein in federal spending, America's creditworthiness was downgraded. For the first time in American history, America lost its sterling AAA credit rating.

Just as American families have to work hard to ensure they have good credit, so too does the federal government. The President and his liberal allies' spending binge is on track to add more than $1 trillion to the debt for the fourth straight year.

Our country needs real leaders to turn things around. As Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney led the state to a credit upgrade. His plan for a stronger middle class will deliver more jobs and more take-home pay for American families while reducing spending to responsible levels. Mitt Romney and the entire Republican team have the experience needed to lead us toward a balanced budget and they will work to restore the sterling credit rating our nation lost under President Obama.
