That is one rule all traders need to learn. Cut your losses and let your winners run. That is the only way you will make huge sums of monies in the stockmarket.

There is one advantage on wide\bid ask; only skilled swing traders or wide time frame day trader would do that. And dont forget to save the horse feed[edit or chicken feed ]bags/rinse + repeat

What if a whole portfolio falls under ,,black swan'', say ~15% on average at the open per position, - you will cut everything ?
It hasn't happened yet. Flash crash was close but I didn't sell anything. My plan calls for me to see what happens by the end of the day. The following day if price trades below the low of the day then I close the position. I trail a stop below the prior day after that. What I have found is that so far I have had ample time to exit in situations like 2008, 2020 and 2022.

Holding overnight in this market is too dangerous until we fall to significant support levels or the trend clearly changes. Scalping is where its at and even that takes expertise in this market. Its very difficult but you have some great traders that understand it and can thrive.
