Newest numbers confirm as I suspected you were being overly optimistic when Florida's numbers peaked and at what levels August 31st almost 400 is the high and first week of September may surpass that. My point is there are posters like Tsing Tao on here that never understood the natural delays between cases/behavior/rules and deaths, or how Florida under reports short term numbers. And when it comes to containing the damage, you have to be proactive based on models not responding to what just occurred.

Even here in Ontario our premier has been slow to restrict activities until the numbers perk up. However, once he clues in, firm action is taken. And the community here is much, much better then most in taking one for the cause to suppress Covid. And our numbers even in one of the largest cities in NA have been anywhere from managed ok to excellent throughout the pandemic.

23 people at my wife's hospital were let go for not taking a shot or giving a reason not to take the shot. Another much larger, multistate hospital group in our area had 700 and some go away.

At your wife's hospital...how much of those 23 employees represent of the total employees and were they essential hospital personnel ???

There are 3 employees (e.g. nurse, physical therapist, tech that cleans medical equipment) currently on administration leave out of 250 at her hospital location...schedule for dismissal on November 15th if they continue to refuse to be vaccinated.

Also, there are 5 interns in her specific department (her floor) that are hoping to get a permanent position there upon graduation next June...the interns are all fully vaccinated.

At my brother's hospital in South Dakota...all doctors are fully vaccinated and about 90% of nurses and other medical personnel are fully vaccinated. My sister's hospital in Illinois has about 85% fully vaccinated with another 5% schedule soon to be fully vaccinated.

My other sibling in Kentucky is on vacation (sabbatical) for two months from his hospital but he's also fully vaccinated. He's not keeping any contact with his hospital. Thus, not sure how many will refuse to be vaccinated.

I don't have the specific number of employees, and unless they are in your department they not are coming out and saying who or where. For my wife it was 2 employees directly related to not being vaccinated. She has also lost another 8 in total this year. Of those at least 2 more were ones who weren't going to be vaccinated, but left a few months ago, so not counted in this batch. The others left as a result of stress over the past 1.5 years.
The other hospital group, possibly including your sisters, operates in a few states and are fairly large, so the 700 number is relatively small.
I kind of get a kick out of it, as from the talk before the mandate hit, pretty much a quarter of the hospital was saying they were going to quit.
Just looked it up, roughly 4700 employees at the wife's hospital.

Two of my siblings work at small hospitals whereas one works at a very large hospital...I believe the latter has over 15,000 employees.

Also, clarification to my girlfriend's hospital...I wrote 250. I meant +5000 employees. Yet, her particular department has 250 employees.

They've already lost about 50 nurses / doctors from burnt out...it had nothing to do with vaccinations.

I think the goal for the hospitals all over North America will be to get by as the Covid numbers continue to decline and then hire new doctors / nurses graduating within the next year and move them around to nearby hospitals that may be in need.

For example, my girlfriend will be working at a nearby Pediatrics hospital (I refer to it as being on loan) for a year due to a few nurses recently (conveniently) becoming pregnant. Here you get maternity paid leave beginning when you notify/verify you're pregnant and then a year of maternity paid leave after the birth of your child.
    • In comparison, everyone else outside of the medical field (e.g. a grocery store clerk) gets a mandatory (max) of 15 weeks maternity paid leave.
I wouldn't be surprised if Canada had an unusual increase in pregnancies among nurses recently going into the November 15th vaccination deadline. :sneaky:

I can also add my wife's hospital is running into problems with finding tubes for testing in the labs. Since they are not a part of a larger group they are having a harder time, but from what I gather it is affecting other hospitals. The larger the system the less the problem, but still a problem.

The jury is in! @Baron: (why to get vaxxed even if you had Covid)

“What’s more, their median post-booster antibody level was three times higher than was typical for another group of people whose antibodies were measured a few weeks after getting their second dose of vaccine, when they’re close to their peak. And it was 53 times higher than that of a group of 76 unvaccinated people who had recovered from COVID-19 just two to six weeks earlier.”

"Even compared to a group of 73 people who had weathered a bout with COVID-19and went on to get two doses of an mRNA vaccine, the boosted group’s median antibody level was 68% higher."

I am 2 weeks after my Pfizer booster shot. The virus is bouncing off of me.

Some use pigs rats+ monkeys for testing\ not to worry.
WE HAVE plenty of guinea pigs to test on that socialized med vaccine. But it's not really safe for pregnant women. Good thing about the chicom virus /proves who the control freaks are+ who to sue:caution::caution::caution::caution::caution::caution:,:caution::caution::caution:
LUV airlines tried to hide the fact that many of thier airline pilots did not want to be a test pig flyer/LOL.
