Same here. I will get the 2nd booster before autumn, international travel or new wave of virus, whichever comes first. So probably around September...
I get the rationale. And it makes sense. But I don't want to try and time it with any precision. While looking forward, you still gotta watch out for the potholes right in front of you.
If I get it now, I would probably want to get one in mid-autumn anyway. I have traveled a lot in the last 6 months and managed not to pick the virus up, so now that it is in its ending curve, I don't see why I would boost myself when it is mostly good weather and outdoors. About a new virus showing up, I think I would get at least a 3 weeks notice (news, speed of spread) and the booster is working fine after 1 week, so pretty much plenty of time to "time it." I also don't have any co-morbidity except age. My sister (same age, same health) got Omicron with 1 booster and it was a non-event. So late September it is...
Again, I get it. I just don't want to become the news before I get the news. It's a personal decision. My risk is also limited to that of age.
How ya feeling after that fourth booster? I had a few aches and a slight fever, lasted about 12 hours after the first two, but not much of anything after the third shot, other than the temporary increase in my tinnitus both times. I also noticed a slight increase, like 2 BPM, in my resting HR each time which lasted a couple weeks, if my Fitbit is to be believed.
Feeling good, thanks for asking. I didn't feel the injection at all. Initially, I was wondering if I was being punked, because I felt nothing. But I had a very mild soreness at the injection site the next morning. Apart from that I might have felt very slightly off that evening and for part of the next day, but it was so minor, it may just have been my imagination. Prior to the booster, I thought I might have to skip today's morning workout, which is 2 days following the injection. Nonsense. I worked out to the limit as usual. I didn't think to check either my heart rate or BP. I'll probably do that on the weekend if it comes to mind. Last weekend my BP was 111/70, with a heart rate of 59 BPM. This was about 90 minutes or so after my workout. My tinnitus varies from time to time, so I don't think I can confidently attribute any possible fluctuation to the shot.
Funny that you say that... The first vaccination of Moderna...happened so fast...my first thought was that the nurse was super fast and I wasn't sure if I was vaccinated. In contrast, my 2nd shot of Moderna, I told the nurse (a different nurse) I wanted to see her withdraw the vaccine out of that small vaccine bottle and then "slowly" inject it into my arm. I then explained to her my skepticism after my 1st vaccination dose. She laughed and said that she is new, will withdraw the fluids out of the vaccine bottle in front of me very slowly so that I can see it, and then will inject me...making sure that it hurts a little. She then said...if you're still not sure...I can give the spot of the jab a good punch if you want. wrbtrader
No. I've had Pfizer the first 3 times without incident, and I figured I'd go with the devil I know. A tradeoff, admittedly, but that was my choice.
