Here's the real story imo: http://www.forbes.com/2009/03/11/ba...nergy-technology-breakthroughs-batteries.html The electric car may get a huge boost from this technology.
Right now hybrids are in a worse slump than autos in general. Gas at the two dollar level makes them not a viable solution to fuel costs... that tells you how much buying is actually green driven LOL... and BO says that the "new economy" is going to be all about the green... LOL
I agree With gas around $2/gal yet even around $7-8/gal, it does not make financial sense to buy a hybrid car
I just happened to calculate yesterday that on average I drive about 180 miles a month. Maybe when gas goes above 10 dollars a gallon, then I'll think about it.

(Since we're on the topic of electric cars)..the "not so ugly kind".. Not so ugly, except the guy playing Santa Claus (me), LOL. 600 Horsepower Lotus/Zap electric. My wife and I a few years back in our Electric Sports car. We were a bit ahead of our time back in 1990's....regulators went to sleep IMO about supporting pure electric vehicles...but, I have to agree that we need to have better cars than "glorified golf carts"....
