  1. Tony,

Respectfully this does qualify you for goin' round the block'. It has nothing to do with trading.....

As far as your "serious illness" that is regrettable, but might of been an eye opening, sobering moment in your life that gave you the wisdom you needed at that time.

After reviewing the threads ...this seems to be getting far to personal for some. ET for me, is a place where traders get together and discuss issues and a guy like me can listen, contribute and learn from the community. I find that there are many knowledgeable traders in here...some sincere and put a lot of thought in their posts. I can say that my trading experience has increased positively because of ET. Funny I do not see ET promoting itself to draw traders....BUT WAIT THEY ARE FOR PROFIT. Anyways this is not the battle of the rooms...its all about honesty..... Others derive an entertainment value from ET...I have at times have been entertained....I also have entertained others with my stupid escapades.....ooopps I have even entertained others when I was serious...oh dear..I gotta go...my wife is calling me. Yes dear!

Thank you for your posts and I wish you profitability in your future.

    Michael B.

P.S. Without sounding like a megaphone, why can't someone from Woodies room document their results using Woodies 2-year method and good living advice......

Ok Nitro and Michael - I respect what you are saying. I've been round the block a bit - graduated from Oxford in 87 with trainee trading offers at JP Morgan, Salomon Bros, Bankers Trust, Chemical Bank and (the one I accepted) at Goldman Sachs. A serious illnesses prevented me from starting my trading career at that stage and I took a prolonged detour on recovery through advising multinational brands, obtaining an MBA, building and selling a business and running a publicly quoted company. I've invested since at school and been trading increasingly seriously for several years (I'm based in Europe so get to do a 'day job' largely before the US markets open).

As far as each of the two camps understanding what the other is talking about, there's really no difference between this thread and The Passion Of Christ thread in Chit Chat.

    Though this one is a lot more entertaining . . . :p

  4. Michael - yes I agree with you exactly - my experience makes me nothing but a novice in trading - I hope I have never implied anything other than that. I was just acknowledging that I have some experience in life and familiarity with the markets that might make me a little less vulnerable than some others - but you are right, trading is a unique experience and success in other fields can turn out to be a hindrance.

Nitro - those who need to see a statement are entitled to ask to see one and draw their own conclusions from any response. I just don't think they are relevant - I believe Woodie shows time and time again he knows how to trade profitably, the question for me is whether I can learn to make my own trading more successful. This is all that really matters to me and hence I am only concerned with my own trading statement. What's more, whilst I can appreciate that a losing statement would not be very impressive, I'm not sure a profitable one actually proves much in terms of what anyone can expect to get from entering a chatroom. It could be entirely misleading so I just don't know exactly what you could ascertain from it that would be helpful. But I acknowledge your point and respect your point of view. I'm just saying that it's not necessarily the only way of looking at things.

I guess if we all agreed there would be no markets.

  5. Tony, assuming you are correct about the statements proving nothing, what would it hurt then for Woodie to just post them? Really this is all too simple...will one of you guys ask Woodie or one of his deacons to come here...You see we cannot go to Woodies room and ask, as we would be stoned as blasphemers....

  7. i am not as vehement as nitro regarding statements, since it is possible that someone can teach but not trade--van tharp is a prime example of an excellent teacher but a lousy trader by his own admission. HOWEVER--van tharp has excellent academic credentials and has interviewed dozens of the world top traders, teaching several of them. who in the money management world has woodie taught ?? LOL !

as far as i know, woodie, has no verifiable background and NO statements. his groupies claim all things about him---- they contradict themselves on this very thread--he cant read or write fast but has ultra fast trading reflexes is one example of contadictory things said about him on elite trader. how BOGUS can you be ??

    LOL !
