Quote from Andriy: "The moderators, by the way, are for the most part pretty good. They seem to be sincere and genuinely helpful. Whether or not something else is going on is something Iâm not prepared to speculate on. Since these are my personal observations, I might as well add that there is one moderator who goes by the handle of gio who I find extremely distracting, if not outright irritating. She reminded me of my third grade grammar school teacher, and her approach to moderating is pretty much what one would expect from a grammar school teacher. She goes on and on to make a point and just does not know when to stop. Oh well, probably just my own personality quirk." ______________________________________________ And let me just say that I've heard those sorts of comments about Gio before. If anyone anywhere on the planet wants a good guide as to how to feel more secure in your trades, listen to Gio. I might have given up trading if it were not for her. Okay, so perhaps there are many people here who are so sure with what they are doing that they do not need any help with the psychology of trading. Good for you, really, but then probably Woodie's room is not for you. Gio is a mainstay, and I consider her a very valuable friend. Whether or not you use the cci, she can help you to understand more about how to overcome the scarier aspects of trading. I'm sorry that her style grates on some. But if you have no need of that sort of support, more power to you. Perhaps this is an emotional response, but I just can't see her put down in any way. She's a fabulous and giving person, and has helped many many people. And Andriy, this was not an attack on you. I recognize that you were just saying that her style annoyed you. I'm not attacking you on this. Just saying that some of us love her very much. And her style is JUST great for the majority in the room. And there's always the ability to mute the sound if it bugs you so much. If you're one of the few who never has a problem pulling the trigger, accepting a drawdown, etc... then maybe you can only help to reinforce what she teaches. If issues like these plague you, as they do for many traders, gio is always there to offer advice and insights which can help you overcome these issues. She's spent so much time helping us to understand our own trading foibles, through the room and directly through email; the woman deserves an award. MarkB
Ya know what, Samson? These posts are like Chinese food: wait 30m and you will have forgotten everything you read. Except for the few ongoing feuds (e.g., LongShot and axeman), nobody cares. It's just a means of passing the day while you're waiting for a setup or managing a trade. Or waiting for dinner to cook. Relax. Have an eggroll.
ok, cool. i am always open to learn a new twist on an old indicator. can you provide the parameters of the "woodie CCI method" , i'll run backtests on the technique and post the results here so they can be posted in woodies room for the benefit of all involved. looking forward to the data. surfer
It's not a mechanical system. No one ever claimed that it is. Why not join us in the room and find out for yourself? Perhaps you can find a way to automate it. MarkB
thanks for the invite, however i don't have the time during the trading day for methods that can't be tested. best, surfer
Hi surfer, I always didn't like that CCI daily chart at StockCharts. To me...it shows how not to use the CCI Although it does provide an excellent basic understanding of the CCI (just wish they had posted some intraday charts instead of posting those daily chart examples). Something else...there are dozens and dozens of ways to use CCI... NQoos website list several different methods from woodie's camp in detail... http://www.nqoos.com/CCI_Tips_and_Nuances.htm I know a guy that's heavy into CCI and he saids he has about 37 different methods of using it (some of them can be backtested) but only a few are worth putting hard earned money on a trade. I believe he trades CCI trendline breaks or something like that. (Note: He has never been to woodies Hotcomm room) Hopefully NQoos site can provide enough info for you to backtest it via your trade management method (all that stuff that occurs after the entry signal) which more likely than not will be different from someone elses trade management rules that uses CCI. There's also a lot of CCI charts posted at TalkStox along with discussions...you'll have to register and its free... http://www.futuresroom.com/index.php3 Good luck P.S. I'm off to get some eggrolls and chicken fried rice Thanks for the tip dbphoenix. NihabaAshi
I can appreciate that completely, surfer. The room is not for you. And based on what I've seen of your posts before, you're doing great without it too. Invitation still open to anyone else who'd like to see what it looks like.
wdscott asks a simple question and this turns into a "bash woodie's room" thread. Some of you people have a real axe to grind. After reading this thread, I said to myself, "Well, that's 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back." I never understood why people take precious time out of their lives and waste it in places like this. They must derive some strange satisfaction from making derogatory remarks and arguing with complete strangers over pointless matters. I am embarrassed for you. Sad, really.
