In order to make a profit at trading you will have to take it away from someone else. It is like a big que of (seasoned, often 40+ years experience) traders waiting in Wall Street for a hand out. These guys and gals would rather eat dogshit than hand over their place in the que to a newbie. ------------------------ Do not feed the trolls, the trolls live of negativity.
Andriy why does this bother you so much ??? Yes the room is protective of woodie but you have to ask yourself why that bothers you. Envy perhaps ??? How many good traders here in ET are willing to take the time to build a web site explaining their trades then open and host a room for absolutely no profit? Think about how much work that is. That's why we are blessed to have people in this world that care enough about others to give freely of their time and energy rather than just sit on these forums and tell the newbies and less experienced how stupid they are for trying to learn. Don't get me wrong yes there are some excellent people and traders that post on ET for the good of others too. People like acary, marketsurfer, dbpheonix and allot of others (sorry I can't think of you all right now but there are many). The point is ... this job is a hard one and we all need to stick together and help each other as best we can. That's my opinion and it has always taken me far in life in every endeavor. It's an old cliche but non the less a powerful one " What you give is what you get back".
Protective? LOL! They worship the guy. And yes, that bothers me. As do all such "cults of personality." Got a problem with that? And envious? Double LOL!! Hardly. Why is it that whenever someone disagrees with someone else or offers a contrary opinion, the automatic response is that one must be envious of those he is criticizing? Are you that insecure?? To each his own. I can be a good person and take your money at the same time. I see absolutely no contradiction there. Ciao... PS And oh, nowhere in my comments did I "tell the newbies and less experienced how stupid they are for trying to learn." Learn to read before making assumptions about things I did not say. There's a big difference between ignorance and stupidity.
LOL Dax. Bali survivor, the suggestion that the spikes on the euro are caused by Woodies room is probably a huge complement to the room members. "Until a few months ago the currency futures were not spiking a lot. Today we read about "trades being busted"." But I don't think so. Also, BS, I think a suggestion that zlrs on ES are working less well because of the members of woodies room is almost as unlikely. Why not try an alternative explanation: the zlr is a short term trend trade .... have any trend trades worked as well on ES in the past 6 months (low vix) as in the high daily range times of 2-4 years ago? The markets change and traders evolve or do something else. I know that GB, Fitzy and I all use zlrs very succesfully still and Fitzy still uses them on the ES. andriy, An excellent post on your experience of the room. If Woodies room doesn't suit someone then they will leave ... some because they don't do enough work to learn it ... some because they don't understand it or cant ... and others like yourself because they don't like it. It was too sweet for your tastes. Others have different tastes and so experience the room differently. Its a bit too sweet for me too at times but it is a change to have a break from chat room cynicism. What is wrong with traders being kind-hearted? What do you think traders should be?
Kiwi-trader â âWhat is wrong with traders being kind-hearted?â Absolutely nothing. But from your comments you and I both know what Iâm talking about. It goes beyond âsweetnessâ and âniceness.â But then again, perhaps its only my misguided perception. âWhat do you think traders should be?â Whatever it is they want be. Its not my place to make that decision for anybody. Whatever works to be successful, success for me being defined as making a profit. If being kind-hearted allows me to do that, then fine. If being a cold, calculating SOB accomplishes the same thing, then thatâs fine as well. Whatever works⦠Ciao
I'm not sure that either the detractors nor the fans understand just how few people in these rooms actually trade. An astonishing number of people, for reasons that I really don't want to delve in to too deeply, join these rooms with no intention of ever placing a trade. A great many more trade only on paper. The number of people who trade real money AND make a living, or even a profit, doing so, are very few. Very. As in probably none. Recreational traders don't do anybody any harm, unless they start giving advice based on "knowledge" they've acquired from other recreational traders (which is usually the case). On the other hand, anyone dumb enough to take this advice generally deserves whatever he/she gets. I've seen this movie so many times, and the plot's always the same. Only the guru changes. And given an unlimited supply of gimmees who don't want to read, don't want to study, don't want to work, don't want to do anything more than play Casino Trading, there are more than enough to go around.
