ok, not to be facetious here, but who would u say is the better trader from the above?

bc every year there's a ranking of the best hedge funds where they measure "best ever" by the accumulated profits since inception https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ech-make-13-billion-in-a-grim-hedge-fund-year

but they specifically don't control for starting aum/total external aum, so bridgewater, which reportedly raised billions in aum, gets measured and compared directly with soros/quantum fund, which raised like $4m at inception (& in the bio of soros they mention that the fund didn't raise that much afterwards either)

then by the same logic, if we're going purely off "accumulated profits" would the guy making 5% (bascially a bond portfolio, or 2-3% above inflation) on his $10mm trust fund is a 'better trader' than someone grinding out 200% on 50k, 100% on $100k, etc?

What about the comparison between 5% on $10mm vs. 50% on $1m? would they be equally "good" traders, since the absolute value of the profit is the same?

then i guess ppl like bill gates, michael dell are also top traders, as they have family investment offices that make reportedly high single digit to low teens returns

5% on 10M is an investor who is below average imo.

  6. And for all we know the 5% guy could have been 90% cash, but imagine the levels and spikes you could create with that much ammo......

Someone who can make 50% on 1 million, can probably do that too on 10 million.

I don't understand the practical use of this thread. Do you have two offers and don't know which one to choose? :D
